I was the first student to sign up for Big truck truck drivin' school at M.T.A. when I saw the sign going up in Corona, California.
I was working at a horseshoe factory in Anaheim at the time, and wasn't happy. When I drove by the former Edison building on Cota street, and saw the new sign being installed, a light bulb went on over my pointed head -- and the rest is history. It was, in my opinion, one of the best things I've ever done in my life. I just wish I'da done it sooner. Not that I didn't want to, but I let others convince me I wouldn't like Big truck drivin' -- even though I thought they were wrong, I listened to their advice. Now, instead of wanting to kick myself in the buttox, I think I'd rather kick THEIR'S.
HeY!
Speaking of Fontana -- y'all are gonna have a buncha traffic next week, ain'tcha? Second race of the new season. Do you follow NASCAR?
Whadda ya think of Dale Earnhardt Jr.?
First season with a new team, Hendrick, and he's already winning races.
Today -- in a few minutes -- it'll be the 50th running of the Daytona 500. I'm ready to watch! You'll probably be able to hear me screamin' over there in Fontana.
It's twue!
It's twue!
Anxious to see if LillE can make it a three-peat.
What did YOU do before driving a land barge?

Well, if everything goes right, I wont be here in a couple weeks. I'm moving to North Cackalacky as soon as the tranny in my Bimmer gets out of the shop, then I'm heading right up to Tulsa for Arrow orientation.
The traffic goes MAD on race weekends here. I follow a little. I do like Earnhardt.
Never knew they put an MTA school here! When did you go? They had MTA in Pennsylvania when I lived there but never figured on finding another one outside of that state. -
Before going to truck driving school, and becoming a truck driver, for 20 years I worked as an animal research technician. I spent most of those 20 years brushing rat teeth, they got their teeth brushed 2 times a day 15 seconds per hemijaw and only one time a day on weekends. we tested the toothpastes and oral rinses that you buy at the store for people. we also had tobacco chewing hamsters (back in the 1980s).
I also did dental prophylaxis on baboons and lemurs at the indianapolis zoo. When asked what do you do for a living I would say 'I brush rat teeth' I was never taken seriouslybut always enjoyed my job but now I am just a down on my luck trucker looking for a local gig. -

Our great director of our facility got married and began spending her entire days on the computer at work looking up recipes and home improvement stuff and the like and did not bring in the business, thus 9 of the 12 technicians lost their jobs in one day and a year later I just decided that it was best to go somewhere else before I too lost my job-the facility did make a come back and I am regreting that I left now, but it was in question whether it would remain open another 6 months at the time I left. Mrs boss-lady is on the verge of a huge demotion, waiting!...

i work for a school in the grounds department

I have a B.S. from a state university. Worked for Lisa Motor Lines riding an office chair. Department had a turn-over.
I was a manager for ground crews for US Airways for a year. Injury accident, they didn't want me back.
I worked for a District Judge (family law) as a clerk. I broke up families from 8AM to 5PM weekdays.
I started farming with my family in TX panhandle. I started small fleet from scratch, ran it on a contract, sold my fleet and made a KILLING.
I started another trucking company, I'm a glutten for punishment. I have fun running trucks and driving them when needed. I'm thinking of going back & getting my MBA. If I disappear from this forum...that's where I'll be. It's getting harder & harder to farm these days. The best benefit is owning the land. That's the best investment, I've found. Trucking is more of my hobby. I know, I'm sick in the head. -
