You say you have your Twic? Why didn't you get your hazmat on the same day? Same investigation.. Now you had to pay more for a repeate of what you already had. Did you tell them you had a Twic card when you ordered your hazmat ?

Yes it doesn't matter in TX. The only way I could have saved money was by getting the hazmat first, then they would reduce the twic card by $24.50. I would have waited for my hazmat to come back first to then get my twic had I known.

When I got my twic I was still in cdl school, and the DPS wouldn't allow us to take our endorsement tests until we passed our driving test and already had our cdl. I figured i'd get the twic out of the way while I was still in school. Twic only took a week to get, hopefully hazmat takes the same.

If you've been cleared by Twic.. Then it shouldn't take to long for hazmat.

ethos, I have a phone interview tomorrow with Schneider Tanker out of Houston, told them today I would relocate (live in Florida). I have currently completed about 3/4 of training with Werner; recent CDL grad as of May, 2013. I did not finish, because of a surgery I undertook in Europe. I wanted to go into tankers, and instead of immediately going back to Werner, I wanted to ... try my luck sort to say :) I have all endorsements, TWIC and passport too. Would they honor the partially completed training as experience? I was in the truck a month and a half and did about 12 000 miles roughly

I have actually had a few students that have come from Werner without completing their training and the answer is no, Schneider will not count that. The good news is that if you can drive then your time with a trainer will probably be very short but you will still have to go all the way through the Academy, probably about a month of training till you get your own truck. You would still have to go through some bulk specific training even if you had years of dry van experience and everyone does at least 3 days with a local trainer, just to do a couple offloads.

I thought I read on here that Schneider doesn't train anymore? Anyway......... I'm sure I speak for others when I say your posts about schneider are helpful.

not sure you would have to relocate their are schneider drivers out of florida, met a few at the atlanta oc. im finishing my training right now, taking my final tests in just a few hours so hopefully ill have the keys to my own truck by the end of the day,

schneider training is very advanced placement, and if you cant keep up they have plenty of greyhound tickets, if they offer you the option of where you want to train you want to pick coroapolis, pittsburgh, PA. right now houston is hurting for trainers because of some issues they had down their, i trained in coroapolis and it has the best trainers the hotel is nice and youll be driving on some very steep grades so the learning curve is steep but if youve been driving youll be alright, just walk in their with the attitude that your ready to relearn everything about trucking because thats basically what it is,

tankers is dangerous and if your ####y and jerk around your ### will be on the pavement and youll be watching the truck drive away, these trainers dont get paid enough to let students risk their lives and they will tell you that up front. it is a ton of fun though. they know how to have a good time. definatly pick coroapolis, the guys who train their the pass rate is very very high, ive seen several guys fail their final tests because they couldnt start their truck on a hill without rolling back or shift on steep grade because they trained in houston or green bay and its very flat around their

Thanks. Just spoke with a recruiter, she said she needs to verify with her manager two speeding tickets - one from 2011 and previous before that in 2008. It would be sad if this disqualifies me. Otherwise, all endorsements, no accidents, no convictions, TWIC, passport, what do these people want? Angels?!

Not angels. But people who can follow instructions to the letter. Even a rat outfit like Schneider can't be having the EPA crawling up their rear from rollovers and other chemical spills. If you can't follow simple speed limits{as most people don't} then why should you be trusted to follow much more complicated rules for loading/unloading etc???? TWIC cards and the rest are a dime a dozen. Look at the trash hauling containers in and out of ports. You want to get into better money jobs like tankers then you need to seriously consider stuff like this as it will come out and they will find someone else. I get in my personal car or pickup and I'm as ready as everyone else to run 70 in a 55. Then I remember what it can cost me and back it off-a little. Never more than 4 over the limit. I applied for gasoline hauling job several months ago with no tanker experience and was in training within a week. Had all the cards, endorsements, etc. But the main thing was no tickets and wrecks for many years. Good rapport with former bosses and superb record of showing up ON TIME and doing the job. It's real simple old fashioned stuff that will get you a great paying job. Good luck.

    Twicebit Thanks this.

Okay, based on my previous post do you believe I should be denied employment?

We'll see, whatever happens. I am just trying to see if it will work out.
