I don't have a dispatcher anymore. Just a boss that I text when I need her to get the warehouse moving. Otherwise I just go in, sign for my load, and take off. My qualcomm is my phone.

For what it's worth, both of my flatbed dispatcher/FMs at Roehl are former flatbed drivers. Don't know whether the planner is or not.

Got to work to pickup my load. It's not ready and will be over an hour before it is. I would care, except I'm on the clock waiting for it. ;) Also I combined 4 kinds of ice cream into my cup while I wait.

I must have a hundred dispatchers now. They call me and ask if I want a load of this or that going wherever, and I take what I want. Life is good at the moment.

    Treefork and Meltom Thank this.

It's good for the skin. Though a bit sticky.

As not to disappoint Bayle I am to going to give a run down on things are here at Ozark after my 1st month. Aside from a couple WTF are they thinking moments things are going well. I don't see the 1000 mile runs anymore but that is due to their operating area. I mostly run the Midwest and Southeast. I spend quite a bit of time down South, actually. My longer runs will go South coming out of MI or going North coming out of GA. Everybody treats me good and it does seem the Driver has some pull. My DM does a pretty good job keeping me moving and getting me home. Speaking of one those moment. One time I expressed so much concern about a run on the QC that a FM called me later me to talk to me about it. So people do actually listen. I kept hearing it from people during orientation the owners take the treatment of Drivers seriously and from what I have seen Operations works with you not against you. As for trucks the older ones are slowly getting phased out. They only use Freightliners. All have APUs, duals on the drives and set at 65 on the pedal and cruise. Unless I am running hilly terrain I usually have the cruise set at 63. I got one the first series of newer trucks so I do have a bumper sensor but it doesn't really bother me. Most of the time I don't even know its there. My job did a lot easier because I don't use over half the macros that I had to send in at Roehl. The biggest thing I do miss is Prepass but they do have EZ Pass. They use what they call a "Suggested Routing". Since they use zip to zip you can modify it, no toll roads of course, to cut down miles as long as you fuel stop doesn't need to be changed without telling anybody. For the most part it seems to even out when it comes to the mileage you get paid for. As for MPG, they use the data in the QC not some program. I may not be getting paid as much as I would be at Roehl with the "Your Choice" Pay plan but I sure am happier. Roehl was a good choice for me to start with and I learned a lot but now that I see things how things are done here I will never go back. Be safe out there Drivers.

I guess I should change the name of this thread to life after truck driving... Anyway I've been away for quite some time, not sure the last time I posted before today. Anyway, I don't drive truck at all anymore. I can't. I don't have any feeling in my left hand, and almost no use of my right leg. I haven't been able to drive since the end of January or so. I am still trying to regain control of my wonderful body, and then I will figure out what I can do with what is left. The moral of the story??? Be kind to your body out there in the truck, your job is hard enough on it, so you need to do everything you can to take care of yourself. I am basically waiting to find out how much of my spinal column will need to be fused, and what movement I will have left after that. And, just for the fun of it a side order of carpal tunnel to keep me up at night. Not wanting anyone to feel sorry for me, I do a good enough job of that all by myself... I just want to get the word out to be careful and take care of yourself, nobody else will!!!

I'm sorry to hear that man, you were always one of my favorites. Hang in there, I'm not much of a prayer, but I'll send some your way.
