I've been with Abilene since 5/2012 but as a solo driver in tractor #1133. My wife always rode with me but did not have nor want a CDL. This last March she saw a number of women driving trucks at a receiver we were at and said she might want to go to CDL school. She ended up going to school at Blackstone Va that Abilene recommended. She along with two classmates finished orientation 3 wks ago. We are in#1482. Dispatch still having a bit of trouble thinking remembering that we are a team. Waiting awhile this morning for a load after sending MT call I finally called and was told sorry they thought I needed to finish break before load assignment that they had forgotten that we were a team. lol all's good heading home for the weekend.

I like hearing stories like this. Congratulations to the wife. Keep on dispatch now that you are a team. If it continues go and speak with Bill and get him to take care of it.

I believe I saw y'all on the Wytheville yard couple weeks ago right b4 the holiday, noticed a husband/wife grabbed trailer next to me I think it was a Boar head load picked up heading to SC. Cuz 1482 is a freightliner, I was nosed under a trailer & was asked if I could slide over.

Well I woke up and had a message on my QC asking if I dropped my empty at Perdue yet. Nope I'm still on my 10. I went in to see if they wanted me to drop it in the yard or where to run it. Well I got the famous "I got something for you" statement from Jonathan. Great! Well it seems I got whored out to Walmart. Jonathan says it should only be to Tue. Yeah right, why do I not believe that. Head to Walmart for my little training stint with 5 other drivers. Well we all get our first load and all of them are Newport News, Williamsburg, VA Beach area. I have a trailer going to a store in VA Beach 106 miles then go 33 miles to pick a loaded vendor trailer then 84 miles back to the Southland DC. The kicker, I left at 1530 and it delivers Sat at 1600. They said I could drop it tonight though. I got down to about Hampton Roads right about rush hour and hear the roads are all buggered. So I decide to stop at Frank's for the night and drop it in the morning. Fri beach traffic is not my friend. Needless to say, not one of us are happy about this. I asked the timeframe for the account. Was told could go into Nov. I'll give them a couple days and if I can't get the miles I think I will have to have a talk with someone. I am sitting at 1800 miles this week and not very happy at all. I've had the loads from hell this week.

Frank's, hmmmm, that place is creepy. Hell, it was creepy back in the 80's. Never have stayed there since home is close to all the lovely places you mentioned. I think you would've been better off staying in Suffolk at one of the t/s at 460/58. Tony's restaurant has pretty good food.

Sorry you have also had bad luck with miles lately. I thought I was the only one that it was happening to. Is the Wal-Mart gig pretty much staying local? Of course, that doesn't help you since you are a MD guy. I think they need to do something like that with the Boar's Head account and let Brett be in charge of just handling that instead of trying to do that and be a FM. Just my 2 cents on that.

If you get their voicemail, hit 0 and when they pick up, ask them to page that person. If you send a request for a ComCheck, be courteous enough to give them time to do it (they have a lot more going on than we realize). But if you don't have anything in 15 minutes, call. If for some reason you can't get through on the page, ask to speak to Don Higgins. He usually picks up and he has always been very helpful in these circumstances. Remember, he is sitting right next to everyone.

    Hope that helps
