Me too, to a woman with 2 daughters, 6 and almost 1 at the time. Talk about some scary shizbit!!!

Actually the scariest thing for me so far is sending my youngest to college 1,800 miles from home :biggrin_2551:

I haven't started driving a truck yet and I hope that I don't encounter anything scarier.

Nope I have told it before and YES it happened to me. According to the Personal Manager at the carrier I was with at the time the Trainee after finding out his Services where no longer needed went to work for England even thought they had been told what he had just done. Tells you England's Hiring Standards don't it.

That was the Scariest 10 Minutes of my life just getting down Parley was fun after I took over, remember I had Smoke pouring off of all 5 axles and I had no way of knowing how bad the Linings where screwed up or the drums conditions. One of the Mechanics that was on said it looked like I tried to tug of war a 747 to a stop and won. The damage to the brakes where 3 drums Cracked thru to the outside 2 others Shattered from the heat loading the last 5 where turned BLUE. They had to replace all the cam bushings before my carrier would let me leave. I melted 2 on the tractor on the Front drive axle. The shoes of the brakes well lets just say they gave it all to slow me down that day.

When I got out of the Shop I told my Dispatcher that I was going to the state line and stopping she went load just got rescheduled for Monday this was Thursday when he did this. I was like Great she goes get a room at the line and all meals and such are on the Company save all your Receipts and turn them in with this PO on them. That night I ended up taking the Peppermill Casino for over 1500.

He was my LAST trainee I had in the truck as a few weeks later I got Married and the now EX wanted to ride with me and that would not have been good you know Newlyweds in the truck with a trainee.

Lot of scary tales from the road , but lately the SCARIEST has been the things on here being asked by the next GENERATION of truck driver.

1 ) Will my 2 recent DUI's hamper my chance of driving a truck.

    2) I went through a STOP SIGN during my road test then I got mad at the trainer , why did they not HIRE ME .

    3) Biggest thing I ever drove was gramps farm tractor for 5 minutes , whats the chance I will get a 2014 PETE as my 1st truck.

    4) I have no $ , no experience but want to go do the ICE ROAD TRUCKING DEAL like on TV.
