True to a point; but I only did it a couple of times in my whole career & didn't risk any gaps between paychecks.

Amen to that. Why hire a guy or gal that know what they are doing when you can buy automatic trucks and put sheeple in them.

Only because drivers choose to work cheaply. There are lots of "good" paying jobs out there BUT a driver would have to get out and find them. They're seldom advertised because they don't have to be>good drivers find them.

Quit working for "trucking companies" and drive for a private fleet. Better pay, better benefits and better home time.

I'm with a private fleet, a great company, but I want to do something different. It'll happen.

Two week notice.....hmmm, gives them two weeks to make life hell for you. Must quit one company before other company will accept you.....nope. Every time I've moved I was already accepted at next company. Just needed to show up at orientation and do the usual stuff......pee in the bottle, DOT exam, road test, etc. When a company does the background ck on you, they already know if they want you or not. Don't jump through hoops, too many companies begging for drivers for that.

I've considered this option myself on several occassions. know a small fleet owner right now that I could probably get on with. Equipment quality and upkeep, or lack thereof, always seems to back me down.

most of the people getting intro trucking. don't have a job to worry about quitting.

it's probably the only profession in the world where anyone can get hired on. usually gauranteed. unless you've got skeletons in the closet.

when i came trucking my unemployment had run out. and didn't really have much options to do anything else. specially with the economy in it's first depression of the century. other then what i already did for the past 12 years. and i had no plans to keep doing what i just got out of.

i had no idea i'd be living my life as a gypsie. and this forum didn't exist back then.

now, here we are with our second depression of the century. doing it all over again. becuase the local pay went to craps. unemployment paid better then driving a truck. 5 years later, local pay still sucks. and construction, will probably never be what it was, again, in our lifetime.

Unless you lied or are trying to hide something on your application, or you fail the drug screen, it is a non-issue

In years past, deception was the name of the game. In todays world, they can plenty of info on you. Had one company ask me how I beat a ticket in Tennessee that was 7 years old. Politely said with the truth and a lawyer.
