Sorry if this has already been posted. But a friend of mine who worked for JBS, said that they are installing dash cams in all their trucks. The dash cam has two camera's. One that faces the front of the truck. And one that faces the driver. When the truck has a sudden jerk, hits a bump or has a hard break, the camera records 8 seconds prior and 8 seconds afterwards.
They used the camera to revoke his safety bonus, because he wasn't wearing his seat belt when he hit a bump in the parking lot of a receiver.. Then once again, when he was backing into a dock door too hard.. Apparently, JBS has a seat belt rule that says if you're behind the wheel and moving, you must be wearing your seat belt.
Anyways, being that the trucks belong to JBS, they can legally record the drivers...
Now, just imagine... You've parked, and getting ready for bed. Maybe putting on your night clothes (if you wear them), and suddenly someone backs into you. You look up and see the camera has been activated and you're being recorded....
I've talked to people that install these things, and have been told, that they can "watch" you any time they want to. They can also record you anytime they want to, from a separate location. Though, JBS says they wouldn't do that.
JBS Carriers dash cams, that face the driver.

Yeah, this is getting irritating with these companies doing things like this. I do not mind the dash cams facing outward, however, facing the driver?? There has to be some sort of invasion of privacy issues there. I just do not get how that will increase safety one bit.
bigjoel and RedRoadrager Thank this. -
I would question the legality of the camera facing the driver, this is after all, our home

Their argument would be our home is in the sleeper. But I do totally agree with you!

I believe there's a simple solution to that problem; put a towel over the camera facing u or white out the lens or something; if they get u for tampering with company equipment by doing such then u probably don't need to be working for them no matter how bad u may need a job.
Real Deal, Jarhed1964 and bigjoel Thank this. -

I hear Abilene has the same thing, but their drivers still seem to enjoy the heck out of working there. I guess if the power is not abused, then it really don't matter. It would take some hella getting used to though for me. Not sure if I could. Then again Abilene Motor Express, and JBS are two entirely different run companies. Just make the best of what you got, then if it doesn't work for you, there are many other options. Especially with your experience.

It would make a nice hat rack
