    lets say you have 1 year exp driving van. want to do local work as tanker with hazmat. will they hire you and train you? remember i said local not otr. thanks

    Its hard to find local work as newbie...search the forum...this has been asked and answered before with everyone's opinion already mentioned.

    It's not going to be easy as you think. As I see it you want the local gasoline job and there's already the very experienced drivers doing that. They will not leave until it's their time to retire. That doesn't mean you should not look. Find a company that you know will hire you when there's an opening. Go in and give them your application and express to them you really want to work for them. Stay on top of the situation by checking your application and updating it if need be undated and go in once a month That way you'll bet to know them and they might even know of a company that needs a drivers. That will be you way in the door. Once you're in keep your record clean and your work habits spotless. You'll work up to where you can and have your choice of company, shift, location, etc, etc.. Then you retire at a decent age with plenty of money.
