I prefer hands, rolled up magazines, ball point pens, or maglites. Anything at hand will do.
Common sense. Never leave home without it.CaliforniaxCowboy Thanks this. -
Well an asp baton technically even though you can buy one technically your not suppose to own type of thing so no

a large police style flashlight will do the same thing and you can carry that around without any questions

Many states (including Florida) will not honor nonresident permits from any state, they only will honor a permit from the state you are a resident of (if they honor it at all).
The page at http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_reciprocity_maps.html will show you where a CCW is valid. http://www.handgunlaw.us/ is also a good resource for looking up CCW laws as well.Last edited: Oct 16, 2013

The only ones who know what I carry in the truck are me and the shadow, and he's not telling.

Most opinions seem to agree that Texas and Utah are the 2 best states to get a CCW permit from. They have the most reciprocal agreements with other states then you can research how to cover any others you need.

Many places in the United States have prohibited offensive weapons laws which allows you to carry certain weapons such as expandable batons, but they become illegal if you use or intend to use the device in an offensive manner resulting in additional charges or stiffer consequences. One would think this type of law would allow you to use and carry the weapon for defensive purposes without question.

I used to consider carrying my nine but the laws in my state are such that it cannot be loaded or within reach in the passenger seat. Now I carry two lightweight aluminum baseball bats in my truck. One is a short 24 incher that rides shotgun. Weights next to nothing and swings extremely easily. The other is a wide barrel 30 inch black coyote. Again weights next to nothing but gives you a further reach against your target. Granted these won't do much against a gun, but the chances of you being ambushed by an truckstop crack head with a gun are fairly slim. And the way the laws are these days, you're better off with the bats...
