I was taught by Swift, drove for Swift for 3 years and trained students myself for one year. This driver obviously received inadequate training and made very poor judgment. My guess is Swift put him (or her) behind the wheel without a good final drive test. You can hurry down the Interstate (70mph for me) but you MUST take your time once you enter that off-ramp!!

After all this time, I just noticed the street on which the business operates is Cloister.

I can hear the call now.....

"Uh, we got a big truck that just tried to turn around in the parking lot of the new credit union."
"The brand new one? The one on Cloister?"
    "Yup...that's the one."

    "Cloister! F......!"

Manangement handed an untrained mentally unstable idiot the keys to a truck and a fuel card and told him to hit the road.

The driver perpetrated the incident, management just provided him the means when they ought not to have.

I guess that it some what depends on the terminal. I also used to Mentor and I was told one day that a person actually showed up for orientation with a interpreter. They sent him home. CDL says that you have to be able to understand English, not that you have to know it well. Look at the drivers that come down from the French area of Canada. A lot of them have a hard time and some of the drivers that are from Europe. Been behind them at customers and they can hardly understand what is being told to them.

who ever been in Europe? of cource U can see that European road signs are pictures on different color background. Why? answer is simple - many different languages. Europeans do all to solve multylingual problem.

It USA many signs are just messages on wight board. Short, easy to see and easy to understand... if you speak English..... So IMO, with the migration policy of last years USA needs to follow Europaen experience.

BTW, have U seen EU truck inside? NO MESSAGES ON BUTTONS AND SWITCHES - only pictures. It is not all: in 70-s-80-s letters on air valves were cancelled. Now they use only digits, becouse for example figure of "1" is always means air supply, 2- output.... Eurpeans do it to avoid missunderstanding problems.

Some European languages are impossible to understand, really! I was born in USSR with Russian language as State Language, now I live in Ukraine and I understand slavanian languages. Well, it is possible to understand German, Spanish, Italian.... but for example: Hungary and Finland - they speak so wierd language!! How can they do it? In Hungary I've been disapointed that it is difficult to find someone who speaks English to ask any simple quation!

But in some European countries they all speak English, like in Sweeden, Netherland, Norway (may be I was just lucky).

Ok, I cant be sure porblem of US trucking are migrants who do not speak English. This one was the real idiot!!

May be other problem that some migrants used to drive cabovers before and conventional design truck is something different. Can be really sure.
