Yeah, that includes fsc. We get 100% of the fsc ( I think it's $0.46 per mile right now) and 65% of line haul if you pull their van. 73% if you pull your own.

Coming from one of the agents who has many friends that are BCO's. Take my information for what it's worth, but know... I listen to our guys and keep up with trends.

1. Stick with something that utilizes Internet Explorer. LEADS is not "Apple Friendly" despite many people's multiple requests. The Opera browser works okay, but Google Chrome (my personal favorite) is utterly useless with LEADS.

2. Get to networking with agents and introducing yourself. Utilize lane match and start doing your research. Look for us on the load board as we ship heavily out of Dallas and have opportunities for you. Feel free to pm me once you finish orientation and get a trailer and I'll personally give you the numbers to a couple of agents whom I'd trust.

3. Run the I-35/I-10/I-20 and I-95 corridor. OH, IL, WI are all decent freight areas for us as well.

4. Get used to hauling heavy until you build up your reputation and get to know people.

5. Prepare to work hard, be early, and go the extra mile. It won't pay off with everyone, but they agents worth their salt will take notice.

 

I've personally ran loads for DLS out of the Dallas area. They're friendly and have plenty of loads to Laredo.

 

I've always wondered why we pay Bobtail insurance along with our truck insurance.

 

I agree with landstar8891. But until you're ready to run your own authority, landstar is a good place to be, dedpite the debatable fee schedule.

 

I'm guessing you're talking about the physical damage insurance that you have through OOIDA. That ONLY covers fixing your truck, nothing else. The unladen liability or "bobtail" that you pay Landstar for covers your liabilty to others should you be in a wreck while not loaded or using your truck as a personal conveyance.

 

Must be a comfy womb. My uncle posted 84k profit last year after tax, fuel, maintain, etc leased on to land star. And he did so running a voluntary elog. :-/

 

You pay bobtail insurance to cover you when not hooked up to a company truck. If you run under your own authority, you don't need bobtail.
