I spoke with Werner recruiter this morning, and was told about the "Zone 5" driving route. can you explain either on this thread or PM. I asked for regional instead of otr. Everything sounded pretty good except for the 275 hours otr with a trainer, at $400 a week. 2 months, I'd rather be making some real money. I was told the "Zone 5" guaranteed $850/week. thanks

Recruiter said at Dollar General, I am required to unload. It is paid, however.

Since it's Werner it can't be much. But at least you pretty much know what your chesks will be.Anything has to be better then their OTR.

no way, would I go OTR with Werner, and the "guaranteed" $850, I'm not guaranteed on anything if you know what I mean.

OTR gets the shaft more then any other division they have. You do a lot of swapping and splitting. You take many resets and you have only like 15 hrs accumulated on your 70.The 3 yrs I was with them I never took a reset because my hrs were up.

Crete will hire you right out of a company-approved school (list on their website) and their 'rookie' pay is, as far as I can tell, the highest in the industry at .34 per mile. You'll jump to .41 per mile after one year, and most of our loads are drop and hook.

I could not ask for a better company to have started off with.

I've been with Werner now for 2 years. Spent 6 months as a company driver then bought an 08 Cascadia from fleet sales and had been doing 48 state and Canada now just transferred over to TCU Mexico. I've had a good experience with Werner and see no need to change until I get this truck paid off then I will get my own authority, buy a flatbed and stay in Texas hauling oil field equipment. The key is as with any company, keep the left door shut and the wheels turning. In the two years I've not had a service failure, no accidents, and have always delivered on time. I did DG out of Ardmore for 6 months and got a hernia so went back to 48 state. DG was good because I went home every weekend. My home load was always within 75 miles from the house. It is physical but I lost 35 pounds within 4 months pushing those rolltainers off. I enjoyed it but at 60+ I can't do the things I could when I was 40.

Does that mean you'll drive into Mexico?
