Can anyone share there personal expierence on running Christmas trees on flatbeds? What kind of rates have you got in the past and what kind of bs is involved other than long load times? I've only loaded dryvans with them in the past?

They are much easier to load in a van if you run the trees through a chipper first.

    Sorry I could not resist

So I asked and after being told 3 times its none of my #### business he finally told me after I agreed to work in the fields for 2 days after thanksgiving. He said all his trees are sold at wholesale to company's and they send there drivers up. He said they normally send a 48 ft flst or step deck to pick them up. I asked rates for them he said he never asked. He did tell me that one O/O buys trees form him and sells them to a couple different vendors in the eastern part of the state. He said at wholesale the trees were between 18 to 15 each depending on grade and height. The driver sales them for 20 to 25. I doubt that helps he is a grumpy old man. He is just selling them but he said to call around or go to the top of a mtn and find a farmer and ask. Sorry about my spelling and grammar.

That's cheap. Trees around here retail for $50. More if the have the roots on them.

Now if we knew how many you can put on a truck we could do the math. Go ask your Uncle again hillbilly and you'll only have to work 3 days after Thanksgiving. :)

Last time i looked into it in my neck of the woods the time involved with loading and unloading was not worth the rate they where paying. Plus a lot of the tree lots you need to show up with your own king of stakes.
