You shouldn't be doing 75mph in a vehicle your size anyway.

What's killing the rates are the illegal carriers, hell, I could make more money if I didn't have to pay IRP and $15,000 a year in insurance. (I haul high end cars and you need at least that much insurance. )

I had a guy pass me with a single car enclosed and dually and tell me he wasn't commercial yet had a UShip decal on his trailer........ I wish the DOT would go after these guys and park a few of them.....

Well, I am experiencing the same right now. I am new though. Starting out with a dually and a wedge. Gotta start somewhere right? I have dreams of owning a few 9/10 car haulers but at the rate I am going now, it is looking very challenging. I get extremely frustrated and insulted at the rates I see on Central but I can't be mad at them. They are out to do the same as us. Make as much money. Isn't that EVERYONES goal? Most will put a car on dirt cheap. Give it a couple of days and if nobody calls, up the price a bit. Stay in contact with the good brokers. Even the good ones like to make a little extra here and there.

I'm looking at moving up from my 3 car wedge to a 5-6 car, not so I can drop my prices to fill up, but to fill up at the same rates I work to get, to make more $$$. Everyone likes to hold on to their money, but if you ask brokers on CD for more, I bet you 80% will throw more on top of the rate they post. Except Montway- they can kiss my hairy ash LOL! When you underbid everyone on uship- illegals included, and then RE-POST it on CD, there ain't much left. I wondered why I never saw their cars on CD until I forgot to put on my .50 cpm filter, and way at the bottom are the .25-.30 cpm cars. How companies like that stay in business I will never know. Oh yeah, it's the idiots that take those loads that put the brokers kids through school while their own wear ratty clothes to school. ALWAYS ASK FOR MORE!!

Uship is horrible! I bid on there all the time at .40 - .50 per mile, per vehicle. Montway is always cheap. The problem is not the brokers. The problem is cheap labor. Its the elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about, and it exists in all of trucking. I came to car hauling after being run out of the dump business because of it and now its happening to car hauling. This is why my car hauler is parked and Im pulling my lowbed. People are just looking to pay their bills instead of running a profitable business. Why lie about, when you come from some dirt poor eastern european, central or south american country, hauling cheap cars is like hitting the lottery. Buy some broke down plastic Freightliner and a seven car with more leaks than the titanic and you too can be in business. Guys like me that want nice equipment that works and im proud to drive, are screwed. Its not be racist or anything like that. Its just the truth

Amen brother- I hear ya and see it all the time running between San Diego and Sacramento. I may be small and drive one of the last cab overs in SoCal LOL, but I'll be darned if I don't always get thumbs up or someone taking pics of my old girl. And I do it all at a profit! As for uship, I always start at around .80 cpm because I'm hoping to keep the price high, especially since those SOB's "aren't" a brokerage but still take a huge cut! I wish the FMCSA would come in and do a raid on their carriers for compliance. WHoa nelly would that be a money maker for both the FMCSA and IRS! I'd be in tears laughing as illegals would be in tears from losing everything! F em!
