Trying to take hubby's hometime away because he did a 34 hour reset??

I see, makes sense. I do the same thing except hometime Tuesday back on friday. For the same reasons.

Thanks for the reply. I was curious how much you got home and how it factored into your earnings. Someday I may try at leasing when I think I'm ready and if wife wants to deal with it.

 

I see some of us like a full 3 days off.
That being, if I deliver my load on Sunday that is a day worked.
I start counting from Monday for 3 days... Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday... Then I come back at 1200 on Thursday.
Just because I don't intend to get up early from my last night of home time.

I stay out 4-5 weeks or more, so I don't think it is too much to ask when I do get home.

And so far it has never been a problem.
Sometimes the system sets my PTA too early (as in, 72 hours after my delivery time), and I simply call my DM and say that I'd like to come back at a certain date and time. He always resets it for me.

 

kinda like me, I know this week I plan on hauling a couple trailers really early Wednesday morning then will head home and start my hometime on Thursday since Wednesday is worked technically....not returning until Monday unless the wife irritates me then I might take off sunday lol.

I am the same I normally wont begin too early, normally I will take off around 9am though unless im parked in Mira Loma then I will leave my house at 9 and have pta set for noon.

My first DM explained how she figured things.
If I got home on the '7th', after working that day, my first home time day started on the 8th.
3 full days off meant that I would come back on the 11th.

I have stuck to that plan ever since.
And I usually set my PTA to 1200 on the day I am coming back, because I don't think that I need to wake up early on my final morning of home time.
I earn every minute of it!!!!!

There are certain terminals that require the driver to clean out and turn in the truck if they are taking more than 1 or 2 days off.
Well, if that were my terminal I would take steps to remove myself from that terminal.
I would find a family member or friend in another state that was close to a Swift terminal, set up residence there and transfer my license, then transfer my home terminal to there.
After all, we can take home time anywhere - not just at or near our home terminal.
My terminal is Otay Mesa. My home times rotate between Denver, Sacramento and St. Paul, MN.
I'm never even close to my home terminal, whether on the road or at home times.

It is pure BS that drivers are not allowed to take their due home time without being penalized.
And it won't stop as long as the drivers involved won't stand up for themselves and fight back.
If enough drivers took the steps to change it, maybe the conditions would change with those screwed up terminals.

Food for thought, there are LTL companies that pay very well for P&D and linehaul. I work for Saia LTL in Iowa, linehaul pays 64 cents a mile, drop pay is $24.84. System drivers are out 5 days unless you want to be out more, bid drivers are home every day, off weekends and holidays. All day cabs, if you are system they pay for your hotel. Yes, you pull doubles, trust me, they aren’t that bad, I didn’t pull my first set until I started here. I am a P&D driver, we make $25.88 per hour, Monday thru Friday off weekends unless you want to do an extra linehaul run, off on holidays. Overtime after 45 hrs. All wages are at top scale, I’m not sure what starting is and I know wages vary by region (cost of living). I’ve been here going on 15 years, was with another LTL carrier for 5 years before that. I came off the road in 1999 making 39 cents a mile, that was in 1999, 19 years ago, OTR now does not pay for the time you give up away from home and expenses incurred out on the road.
