Last time I checked tony doesn't build turbos BW does, that small housing can be bought on a turbo as a complete setup, it's called the 199114.

Just because you run high exhaust temps doesn't mean that the housing is too small, it means that you aren't pushing the turbine hard enough and you are actually not getting the engine enough air, something that is pretty common with the big exhaust housings. Look at les's post, that's not a unique problem just to his setup, and it's also why I suggest stepping out of the dinosaur age of turbos and use something with a wastegate, that way you get quick spool up and it still is capable of breathing easy on the top.

    Semi Crazy Thanks this.

The 199119 or 199114 is a good one. I've heard the stage 1 pdi turbo is also good. Personally I'd find a place close to you to deal with on turbo's that way if something happens you don't have to wait for one to be shipped, plus you will probably get as good of a turbo for a lot less. I was running the 199119 long before it became a popular turbo and I got it from my local guy for $900, but thats been 10 years or so.

If you can find one that is like the PDI stage 1 that would work. I dot think I've heard anything bad about them.

Wish I could find the specs of a stage 1. The guy I deal with has a turbo for $1200.00 or $1800.00 and said a lot guys are buying and real happy with it. I can't remember his specs though.

For the MBN you have to put the same turbo back on it, the wastegate is tied to another part of the engine and has to work properly. For the 2ws it depends on the HP rating. Also I believe that the MBN turbo can only be bought from cat, I don't think there is an aftermarket version.

You never mentioned anything about an aftermarket file, if that is the case then yes you could run a normal turbo.

I have 4mg that I pulled off the b/w turbo and replaced it with the turbo off my mbn. It really improved the low end and the top end power but it still smokes at full throttle. It did raise boost from 23 to 32 psi. Is there a better turbo that would use all the fuel that it is getting now?
