I'm still with Heyl in truck 2504c.We got a raise so I'm making .39 a mile plus 1.5 quarterly perferomance bonus on the first 28000 Dispatched miles, then an additional 5 cent a mile quarterly bonus after that, and the 2 cent a mile fuel bonus is odometer miles and monthly now..

In Oct I had 14500 Odometer miles and got $289 bonus added to my check earlier this month.

I always get the 1.5 cent a mile performance bonus so just figure I'm making a base pay of 40.5, plus 5 after 28000, and the monthly fuel bonus. So figure 2 cents less than that for new hires.

Again I don't think most guys like to run like I do. A lot of them are home every couple weeks, where I have been out solid since Sept 6 when comming back from surgery that would have cost over $13000, but my out of pocket was only $2000.

So a good deal got even better.

Also I noticed they do hire in some areas where they don't have a Terminal. Houston is one of those areas. I split a load with a guy who was going on home time there sk you never know. Call them up and see.

What does Heyl have in terms of benefits? Do they do per diem or can you opt out? What does health insurance run per week/month and when does it kick in - 30 days , 90 days? Do they govern speed or handle that issue by using the fuel bonus as a carrot? APUs? Thanks.

When I started in March of 2011 it was $33 a week for United Health Care PPO, Medical, Dental, Vision, $1500 Deductable, Then they pay 80%, with an out of pocket max of $3500... Now it's 34 a week.

    A week vacation after a year. 2 after 5?

The bonuses as I mentioned before..

The fuel bonus is different depending on if you have a truck with an APU, Or one off the newer ones with just a bunk heater. It's 2 cent a mile. 1 cent if you keep your idle under a certain percent regardless of MPG, the other if you are above a certain MPG regardless of idle time. For my truck group that has a bunk heater, I had to get 7.1 mpg/ 25% idle time for the Oct Bonus. Which I got both and $289 added to a check. For Nov thru April IIRC you need to get 6.9mpg/15% ....May is like Oct.. and Summer is 7.1/40%.
All the trucks have inverters. The one with APU have to have 15% Idle time all year round.

They have a 401k, referral bonus, and some other benefits I'm probably forgetting.

yeah...they have a drop yard in Galveston

I paid $100 for family benefits (all members included) can kick in as soon as 60 days

    No per diem.

Speed is governed at 65mph; fuel bonus doesn't matter (it's always 65)

    Some have APUs... some don't

Also wanted to mention that my truck was a 2013. It had a good inverter. They keep their equipment in tip top form. Dale is cool (safety guy out of Florida) Janie is the best (also out of Florida) Red is great (safety guy out of Sioux Falls) ... ummm ... that's all I can think of right now ... it's as good as an OTR company can be. What other OTR company gets you home without you even asking for hometime?!? ...PAM sure didnt ...and if you want to keep running; they'll get you out of there ASAP too... I have no regrets of working for Heyl
