I am not a troll or uship employee. I am an independent contractor and I'm sick of all the bigger companies undercutting the little guy. We have to make a living to. I have some issues with uship as well but u won't see me complaining about it. I put in my bid and hope that I get a load so I can make my truck and rent payment and all the rest of my bills.

I don't bid on anything that goes on uship and want to see them treated as a broker because that is exactly what they are - a self-service broking service. This means that all the people who use them can't be running illegal, have to have the right insurance and rates won't be bottom feeding where they drive down the rates for the rest of the industry.

Exactly, I called OOIDA about this, if more of us would call and get them and the DOT on board with this, they'd go after UShip. I had a guy in a dually with a single car enclosed trailer tell me he wasn't commercial, yet had a Uship decal on his trailer. I wish the DOT would go after every one of these haulers.

I guess they figure a Uship decal makes them ok. Whoever thinks they can go on runs for pennies on the dollar won't be on the road long. It may take money to make money but if you can't make a profit you are not making money.

I only use my F250 to pull my Boat and my camper, take trash to the dump or take my race car to the track. Besides that i have trucks (18 wheeler) to move freight. Light or Heavy i need to make money.
way too many rookies and idiots running hot shots messing up rates. I remember the good old days when they just to pay Forklifts of and avg of $1,200 as a LTL from Houston to Tampa area or Miami. Now they go from $500-$700, no thanks not worth my time. Ask a Customer why? He told me Hot Shots take them for that cheap. I just to charge waiting time at Ritchie Bro, Now after Uship you cant, Cant even get direct loads. People put them Up on Uship.
Is just sad too see the transportation industry getting cheat on and see people manipulate the system

For the fun of it, I have watched U-Ship off and on for quite some time. The prices have fallen, not risen, and the amount of stuff going through there has decreased. People are making bids that just boggle the mind. Someone bidding to haul an RV trailer 900 miles for... 375 bucks. My estimation is that you need to have a full tank of fuel, because by the time you get there, you'll have burned it AND all the fuel that will buy... Yet, there are occasionally things that appear to never get bids, that need to go 200, 300, 400 miles and nobody bids, even though the starting price for something that fits in a hotshot or cargo van is priced at well over $1 a mile. It appears to me the professionals have totally abandoned it.

Pulling an RV at an average of 10 mpg is going to need 90 gallons of fuel at an average of 4.00 is 360.00. Talk about not knowing what they are doing. They are not making enough to cover the cost of fuel to deliver.

I drive hotshot and I stay away from Uship. Those folks will either sink or wake up. For less than a dollar a mile will not get you far. It has hurt all aspects of the transport industry

New to the website and rolled up on this thread. Kachup really dont know what costomers you've talked to but as a "hotshot" driver I dont move my truck for less than $5 mile for a load that heavy using my 40ft MF! My rates are very competitive in the area I drive and we stay busy at least 5 days a week! The only time my rates dip under $5 is when I do flatbed truck only hauls and even that is $3.75 a mile! Really unfair to blame dropping rates on hotshot drivers that run legally down the roads. In the oilfield most companies prefer hotshot to big rigs simply because we can usually get there withing an hours notice and fit into some of the tightest lease roads.

I'm thinking about doing my own thing. I 've looked at the web site, and frankly the bids and offers on there are so low I can't see how I'd make any money, even if I didn't get insurance or an authority.

Now to the comments on the show. I watched a few and figure the bids or so high because the shipper wants to be on the show.
