Probably wanna start in OttAwa ON. Call Anderson Haulage in Stouffville ON. You're looking at a superload, without a bridge and route survey I'd take a WAG at around $15000.00 to start.
Heavy equipment rates?

i just received a quote for $6200 - two loads - bucket and cwt off froma broker. i have used this broker before but i am interested in trying to find someone to move it my self. i called and left a message at anderson haulage waiting to hear back from them.

One says 15 grand and you get a quote for 6200. Rates tanked or something?

You'd have to think there would be 2-3 grand to remove and re-install the bucket and cwt. My wild-####### guess is that you'd be looking at another 3-4 grand for a bridge/route survey for NY, PA and MD as well as a Baltimore city permit. There again, someone like Don Anderson would probably already have the survey in hand.
But to answer your question, yeah, there are a ton of lowrent outfits that will try and haul stuff for nothing. I was outbid on a mold move for GM from Windsor ON to Laredo TX by a huge outfit from Quebec with funny coloured trucks once. The piece was 16'L 23'W and 21'H on a minideck and their bid came in lower than the cost of pilots and police escorts. So we let them have at it.

I am not interested in lowrent outfits. you pay for what you get.

Something doesn't sound right. 2-3 grand ???? Probably a quick connect on the bucket. 10 seconds and you're done with that. The counterweight, different ways of doing it. 1. Back up to a highboy/ lowboy etc. pull the pins on the weight so it can go down and out. Stick the bucket on the ground and push down until the hoe is leaning back enough that the weight is making contact with the trailer and even the ground if you like.
As for route survey, call NOVA Permits in Montreal and they will have that for you in 5 minutes.
By the way, if you remove the counterweight and bucket you will be light. Say 4,500 lbs. for rock bucket and about 19,000 for the counterweight.
If you look at the pic I posted, I carry the weight and bucket stay on.Last edited: Dec 6, 2013

You're 100% right. But in my modest experience you can get into 17 different kinds of nonsense dealing with US east coast moves, as in "The only guy that can work on this equipment in this yard is my cousin Vinny, and him (and I) need $5000 to put it back together". That sorta deal. Particularly port of Baltimore. And many times I've waiting as long as a week for NY and PA to issue permits. I'd rather see the guy err on the side of caution than blow his brains out on a low rate.
