Lease ops need that hazmat endorsement... its a revenue opportunity.
Boy Howdey and GITRDUN45 Thank this. -
When I started driving my only options were Mega Carriers outa school. None of them would look at you without hazmat. I aquired that endorsement as well as tanker. It worked out in the long run. Went to Werner. In the first 5 months there was placed on dedicated account that needed those endorsements. Spent the next 4 1/2 years with them. I no longer work there. I now work a local union gig.
I guess my point is this. It makes you more of an asset to the company. Do I see this correct they pay more to driver for hazmat load? Think of it this way. A hazmat load could keep you moving and dollars in your pocket. Then again you could just sit around like the other drivers waiting for a load or chasing down the elusive empty trailer. If it is going to be enforced with new hires you might see them getting loads and miles better than what you recieve. If this is not what you want to pursue, then firm up those 4 leads you have and start working them. They may not fire you, but I would bet your miles will go to nothing.GITRDUN45 Thanks this. -

@acido22... IIRC, the federal background check and fingerprinting is $85. You'll have to take the hazmat test when you transfer your CDL back to your home state... so which state do you live in that's going to charge you another $265 for that? I'd like to know so I avoid any thoughts about moving there!
