I haven't driven recently enough to be considered to have any experience. I trying to get on with Maverick, are there any other companies that hire inexperienced drivers that haven't been through school recently?
I found out Roadmasters offers an 80 hour refresher school at it's Dunn NC location, but to be honest, I would rather not have to put money out of pocket for school

How long has it been since you attended school ?How long did you drive before you decided to put your CDL on the shelf collecting dust?Think all the mega carriers require a refresher course if have'nt drove for so long.

Was also thinking about driving again and taking a refresher at Johnston Community College in Smithfield NC but it costs $650.00.You could try PTL or Western Express I see ads on cragslist and they offer refreshers.

I did an online inquiry with PTL, but have not heard from them yet. I will probably call them in a few days

You're probably going to have to start over from Square 1. Your experience is a detriment. Rookie drivers can pretty much be counted upon to bump into things, but it's veterans who are almost exclusively involved in the catastrophic crashes, so I doubt insurers will touch you with just a refresher. You can probably get your tuition covered, or at least the downstroke for school from your state. A lot has changed over 10 years, perhaps most significantly the HOS that drove me from driving to teaching.

I have been out of trucking 7 years and I think I need to do it all over again. Only positive I will have is having my cdl and medical card.
