Thats what has me puzzled....I am under the impression that you do not have to have it at all....you just have to pay $95.00 or 1% of your annual income as a penalty.
they can't force me or anyone to pay out nearly $500 a month against their will as far as I know...we're not the USSR yet.

Most truck drivers qualify for Medicaid, due to their poverty level incomes.

I think the penalty aspect will be the best part of this once it sets in fully. You aint seen pretty messed up yet. It's going to be messed up coming and going and everything in between, covered or not covered, money or no money, good job or no job ... getting quality health care is going to become a disaster for all (barely mediocre at best) except for the absolute wealthiest. And the actual costs for said poor health care (if you can get an appointment or authorization) will be much MORE ... how ironic is that?

1 to 2 drivers drop dead every month. 24 drivers a year. If your still under fifty it might be a good time to move on to another company. Sounds like an unlucky place to be.

Good point. Wonder if it has something to do with the work, Flatbed or van?

That just sounds like a higher than normal percentage of workers passing away. If that's the real statistics, a red flag should be going up real quick.

When you see them mentioning the passing of a driver, it is not unusual to see them at the 55 and up. Nationwide, this is really not out of whack. I have reached that age area and see many passing away that do not drive.

The industry is a sedentary one and can have an affect on the overall health.
