If you reread my original post i stated it was a few years back, and i did say the caps today are better, actually i started in 1985 and sold off those trucks in 2003.
And they didn't run up to that weight, they ran everyday at that weight, in a harsh setting, big difference.
Have you ever seen a tandem or tri axle turn at a intersection or job and notice the torque on the axles and tires, axle weight changes during those turns, puts allot of stress on the bogies and tires.
Those trucks were serviced every 5000 miles, greased and power washed every weekend, and checked by each driver every morning and by me every end of day, i take pride in my trucks and equipment, so the neglect part you keep bringing up doesn't pertain to me, not a opinion, fact.
New tires or Recaps?

I think he means neglect on behalf of the tire pressure and condition
DL550CAT Thanks this. -
Would somebody please take a picture and show me of a hired driver checking air pressures daily on a pre-trip, or ever LoL. I have never seen such a sight before - really.
DL550CAT Thanks this. -

"Well, you're looking at the motor..." they'll say....
"Yep, and I'm also checking out the wheel seals, and the air lines, and the suspension...."
"Oh"
It would seem that somebody doing a post trip catches them off guard.rollin coal Thanks this. -

Well i check my pressure on All my tires before a trip. It only takes 10 mins. To me its worth it the 10 mins rather than a Roadside call. I dont have the company driver mentality i guess.

prefer new tires. I run my truck with Kelly steering tires, firestone drive tires (soon to replace with Kelly KDA), and Michelin x-one trailer tires.
