I know this hyas been posted before, but after a few attempts I couldn't find it. I'm concerned about being able to have some type of weapon for a few rough areas. I'm trying not to cary a gun, the company doesn't allow them. One guy talked about a piece of heavy guage wire... could someone explain this in more detail (Thickness and length). They said it looks better in court. Does anyone have any other good ideas?

I got a big framing hammer for bumping tires. Bet it would feel below average upside someones head.
Pmracing Thanks this. -
You will learn what areas you might not want to get out of the truck at night, and other places where you could likely leave your doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition without any problems. The best idea is to park in places you are much less likely to need some type of weapon. The being said, I do carry a regular size hammer beside my seat. I have to knock the snow and ice off in the winter time, also check tires with it ........

A hand made leather quirt like you use on a horse works wonders. Has a loop on it that goes around your wrist and the leather poppers keep you put of arms length. Mine was hand made by a vaquero that took a lot of pride in his work and must have ridden a bigger horse than most. I have been to a few rough areas thou and never had any trouble really. And something to think about is the criminal is not bound by rules he isn't willing to break. It sucks being under equipped for any job so to speak.

Nobody bother's broke truck drivers. They see the name on your truck and think you might mug them. You name it I been their and never had a problem, but that's probably because I know how to walk, and drool on myself like the other kids who use to ride the short bus. If it comes to it. Throw some blows and if you get your butt kicked. You have a good story to tell at the truck stop counter. Woop woop truck it up.
Skydivedavec and n3ss Thank this. -
+1 on the hammer plan. I keep this roofing model closer than the toolbox if I'm overnighting in a sketchy area. Hard knocks in the front, party on the back. Definitely got some looks walking back with this to pound tandem pins on the trailer I recently got rid of.
Skydivedavec, wd40 and Cetane+ Thank this. -
Get a razor blade and a breaker bar

3D or bigger maglite. You gotta be able to see outside in the dark right?

A can of hornet spray.

I have four hammers in my truck. A framing hammer, a large ball peen, a BFH and the hammer on the rear-end of my .45. To answer your question, though, a tire thumper would work, as would a can of wasp spray.
