My bags are packed and my wife is going to drop me off in New Kingston in a few hours. I am getting slightly nervous about the road test. I have not driven in a month. I am a new driver. Hope all goes well. Can't wait to be working finally. Anyone else out here have orientation tomorrow?

I just finished orientation at Werner in Omaha NE and am out with my trainer now.. wow, I have learned a lot already and am emjoying being out with my trainer and actaully doing the job as it really is...

Yeah.. it really is awesome to get that first paid mile.. lol even if it is only a quarter.. I remember when I first went out and drove for 3 hours.. we stopped at a Truck Stop for fuel and when I was getting coffee another driver asked me a question about directions.. I said, oh, I am just in training.. he asked me how long I had been in training and I told him it was my first day and only had 128 miles under my belt.. he smiled and said.. "but now you are getting paid for those miles".. that made me feel good.. cause he was right.. I was finally getting paid to drive.. walked back to the truck a littler taller.. being a paid driver and all...

Good Luck to you.. remember "Driving is not about the hands and feet.. it is all about the eyes and mind!" (that is from the Smith System)

Just relax and take your time it's not a race and you will be fine.

Just got to the hotel. The weather is absolutely terrible here. Freezing rain and everything. Hope it clears up a bit before tomorrow. Thank you all for the input! Everyone be safe out there!

Day 1: just got back to the hotel passed my dot physical and all of that had my road test, was the last to test. They did not tell me if I passed or failed before I left but I assume I passed because they have me the keys to the shaffer van to come back to the motel. They told me to come back tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well out there!

Yeah. Got any updates? I applied a couple days ago and would like to know what to expect in Kingstown orientation; hotel, road test, how many people at a time, etc. Since I would be going as an experienced driver, I wonder what to expect.

The New Kingstown orientation was okay the motel was pretty nice. They have a bar that opens in the evening if you drink. Drinks are a little high but not bad if you don't have a car there like I didn't. The orientation it kind of dragged on for me because my trainer was delayed picking me up. The first day was driving tests and dot physical then 2 days of like a class setting learning about the job then I had to do DDC which wasn't bad we drove around and ate at an all you can eat china buffet. My orientation started with 22 people and ended with 16 there was 5 students and the test were experienced. I hope this answers your questions a bit.

Ps. The road test is very easy if your experienced you will do great I'm a student and did great. All your doing is driving a truck.
