Just imagine driving a truck in that city. Do you realllllly want to do that. If I didn't have issue's with blood and guts. I would choose the emt thing no doubt.

First, I do not work for Prime or Werner. I was fortunate and was able to skip the starter companies.

I have only heard on bad thing about Prime and that seems to have worked itself out. So I won't even repeat it now. From speaking with folks around the truck stops who work for Prime they seem to be happy enough. One Prime driver took a shoulder for a trucker ahead of me and prevented an accident so I am impressed with their skills.

As for Werner, they gave me a key chain with a D-ring on it when they came to the school to recruit us. No job offer but I still have the key change.

Springfield, MO is where you are headed for training. Anywhere in Missouri you will find is like going to heaven after being in NYC. People in New York got off the boat and settled for the first thing that came up. Those of us in Missouri found paradise. Of course, there is nothing to do here so we don't mind spending all our time going other places.

LOL! the thing is that being a EMT here in this city doesn't pay enough to live in it. i love being a EMT, but it doesn't pay at all..

I have been in nyc for 21 years (all my life) and i love it here but its time to move on, this city is becoming a place for the top 1% and honestly the most of the other folks that are able to afford this city are on welfare and have range rovers parked in the front of the projects(goverment housing), and i dont fall in either category..

While neither are great from everything you take from drivers and/or the stories on here... You are still FAR better off at Prime than CRST... Its like any other training company. Do you time, get you 12 to 18 months in then go to a better company. But you have to put in your time at the crappy ones to move up out of the gutter lol.. Most everyone here has had too. :)

    Welcome temporary neighbor!

    Prime over CRUD for sure.

I started on 32 cpm, 10 years ago, so I consider this .12cpm junk insulting - but as said, you have to start somewhere, and if you bring nothing to the table, there's dues to pay.

Good luck, Sir. You sound excited!

Prime's training pay after PSD school is $600 per week garaunteed or .12/mile. Whichever is greater. Training portion is team miles at 30k miles to upgrade solo. 40k if you get your CDL someplace else. Ive had trainees knock that out in 2-3 months.

Starting Company Driver pay after training is .41/mile in a lightweight truck. .36 in a condo, however its rare they put a newbie in a condo... so the lightweight is an extra .05/mile. He lives in the NE, if he gets attached to the NE fleet thats another .05/mile... After all said and done, being from NY the OP could start at .46/mile solo after training.

We have scheduled raises around each 125,000 dispatched miles... also we've got unscheduled raises the last two years for a total of .03/mile.

btw that .12 or greater is if the training truck does more than 5k miles in a week. The trainee gets to share pay in that extra work. Trainee has to be on a trainers truck ready for dispatch all seven days to collect the $600 per week garauntee. Going on home time on any pay period is a partial week and the pay is pro rated.

5k x .12 = $600 Thats the garauntee. Its not the trainee's fault if he's ready to work and the truck does not do 5k miles. Prime pays the garauntee.

    If the truck runs 6k miles that week 6k x .12 = $720

Chuck, i cant thank you enough for all the information you have given me, i also started to read your thread for the prime prospective employees, and i have learned alot about how you guys work based on that thread alone..

Now im in the process of proving the college i went to which is giving me a hard time to obtain a transcript since i have a financial hold :(, and one of the jobs i had that closed down, and i cant find a way to prove that i worked there in the past, hopefully i could figure all this out by next week
