hmmz maybe mine is setup like that, will have to check, heck my machine is already the outdated discontinued model, they got a newer bpap now.

also what instructions do you need? They set the pressures based on the study, you just stick the mask on and press "therapy" not hard to figure that part out, heck you can set them up to automatically come on when you start breathing into the mask. You also wont always feel a benefit right away, sometimes it takes time. With pressure changes it took me a week to start feeling a difference of just the pressure.

During my sleep study my AHI was crazy high over 80, almost a year later im down with an average of 2.7, this is another thing you can look at on your machine. You cant trick the machine, it knows by the way you breath etc if your awake or asleep.

It certainly changed my life, not saying its for everyone. But as you,I never get tired anymore and remember when I had to take a nap everytime I had lunch.

I still get tired at times but its from long days or I only slept a few hours, but even sleeping for 5 hours with my machine I dont fall asleep while I used to sleep 8+ hours a day without the machine and I would doze off all the time. Its not for everyone like you said but if you suffer from the apnea then you need it, you just have to find the right settings, right mask etc for each person.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly about not working for such bottom feeders. Now, as to the comment about WHAT instruction is needed...for one, this is a MEDICAL treatment, which under medical practices laws REQUIRES a doctor's PRESCRIPTION, and in the event of a "breathing/forced air" treatment, sufficient administration of the equipment and patient familiarity. NOT a sales rep telling you over the phone how to use it and have the machine adjust the airflow automatically with a "ramp up" system.

As the Mayo Clinic has published several concerns about the use of these machines, and the related health risks involved, it is common sense that one would want to be treated properly by a doctor. In my opinion, the way Marten uses this program, is a scam.

How is it a prescription when anyone can buy a machine? It is a treatment and it's not very hard to setup.

the thing is automated. It settings adjust to your sleep breathing pattern automatically. The initial setting maybe annoying but it works itself out and adjusts. It's smarter than you, and it's smarter than your Doc.

If you have problems, you work with the sleep tech to get a better mask or maybe they show you how to adjust the initial setting.

poor attitude going into it, and trying to "game" a machine by wearing it when awake? No wonder you had problems.

why don't you read up on what sleep apnea and the lack of oxygen is doing to your body and vital organs. It's not entirely about a person being sleepy. You may someday end up like those "tough guys" after their heart attacks that said, "should of listened to the doc" while they show you the staple scars.

i can't sleep without my machine... I feel like I have a hangover and smoked a pack of cigarettes if I don't use it. Plus I get only 6-7 hours when before I was trying to sleep every minute of a 10 hour break.

yep I sleep around 6-7 a night too unless I have a later cut time on a load the next day then I might end up getting 8-9 hours, I just cant go to sleep when I shut down for at least a couple hours.

I found a manual online how to get into the techs settings and I adjusted the pressures myself, it took a couple weeks to finally get a pressure that worked great for me but this past week im averaging 2.1 AHI, when i first started messing with the pressures I was seeing 21 then 18 then 13 then 7 and just kept slowly adjusting in very small increments, I also ordered a nice gel mask out of my own pocket which made things more comfortable.

Amazon is great to find cheap parts, when i called Apria it was $72 for a mask, $32 for a new hose, forgot what the headgear was but I got 2 gel mask, headgear and a hose for about $67 off Amazon/ebay

LOL...it took you a couple of weeks to get a proper setting? They gave me 4 days, period. PLUS, there are documented medical issues with the Mayo Clinic about SEVERE health risks involved with the machines, ESPECIALLY for those who "self adjust" without a medical professional (NOT a sales rep.)

The biggest issue I think though was the FORCED use, even though not mandated by DOT at the time. The "17" or larger neck size is discriminatory at the very least and NEVER should have been implemented for FORCED studies as it was not ANY part of the law. Marten was getting the horse before the cart, so to speak, and backfired on them.

They TRIED to send me to a collection agency for the bus, hotel, etc. fees, but I REMOVED the collection agency with the CollectionShield program at collectionshield dott com. NOW, if Marten wants to try and collect what I don't feel I owe them, they have to sue me in small claims court, here in MY County, where I can file a counter claim and bump it up to a higher court for a LOT more money I'll go after them for. LOVE IT.

Hey, for those who are being treated by their doctor with a CPAP, GREAT! THAT is the key word though...DOCTOR.

When I first started three years ago with CR England they tried the same nonsense. Their in house doctor gave me a provisional 3 month physical because I had a 17.5" neck.

I'm 6' 3" and 260 lbs. Not skinny, for sure, but I've never had any problems sleeping. I was working the relief/recovery fleet and got a two year physical done in Seattle during the down time on a load. At the three month point England Safety called and said I wasn't getting another load until I spent $4,500 for sleep apnea study.

The guy telling me that I had to take the study worked at a desk inside their headquarters and was getting a paycheck based on the fact that people were going through his sleep study. Such a scam. I finally sat down with him and the England son running the Safety department and asked why I was unsafe to run since I had just gotten my two year physical. I threatened legal action and they backed off.

The size of someones neck doesn't determine if they have sleep apnea just like phrenology (feeling somebody's head for bumps, early 20th Century medicine) doesn't determine if they will have diabetes, but this is like everything else. Companies will try to get away with whatever they can.

$4500? sheesh, doing some research you can find places to get it done for roughly $500... myself I had medi-cal at the time so I got mine done for free including a 2 part study which runs a little more expensive. They even have programs these days where you can do at home studies.

The point here is the FORCED in the program, regardless of company intent. If it's NOT part of the law, then don't FORCE it on your employees.
