A few days ago i was in Ft. Collins, CO picking up a load at the budweiser plant and i talked to a swift driver while i was there and he got to talking about all the different companies he had worked for in his 3year driving career, he named off 14 different companies that he had worked for in a 3 year period

I was simply amazed by this that regardless of his poor work history that he kept getting hired by company after company, just overlooking all the other companies he had worked for and quit or got fired from for various reasons.

I really hope that this isnt a normal thing in the business.

It's not all that uncommon for driver's to fall into the whole "grass is greener" syndrome. The problem is, it usually isn't any greener.

While this Swift driver's tale is a little on the tall side, I'd say he wasn't stretching things too much. Some guys just aren't happy anywhere.

I guess if hes had that many jobs in 3years would explain why he is at Swift now.

I think most likely he was full of crap! 14 jobs in 36 months?:biggrin_25512: What did he do, stay at a job an average of roughly 3 months?:biggrin_2552: He was just one of those "know it all, yeah I got one of those, Yeah I've done that, mines better then yours", LOSER!

Think about it. He was with 13 companies before SWIFT! How did he end up at one of the WORST companies ever? I'll tell you where hes gotten FIRED from.

And Finally..........He landed a job with his last hope!

    SWIFT!!!!!!!

This was probably this LOSERS first trip solo with SWIFT. He was smelling himself and was feeling good, so he decided to lie. I strongly doubt he had 14 jobs in 3 years.
Oh yeah, I am sure the way he would tell it, he left those 13 companies! He got terminated from some of them because he wouldn't take any of their lip! The other employees took the crap, NOT HIM! They let him go because they couldn't contain him! He left them because they didn't know how to run a company. Here's is a list of the 13 companies he left.

    1. Crete
    2. Averitt
    3. Celedon
    4. Watkins Shepard
    5. Wal-Mart
    6. Frito-Lay
    7. Fed-EX
    8. UPS
    9. Conway Freight
    10. Old Dominion
    11. Yellow
    12. Roehl
    13. ABF

Yep, he left these decent companies for the GREATNESS of SWIFT. I am sure thats how he would tell it! :biggrin_2559:

he said he was fired from Schneider, Crete, Wat/Shep and Celadon for refusing to run illegal when they told him he had no choice...

I find it incredibly hard to believe that those companies (especially being some of the bigger companies that they are) tried to force him to run illegal

I worked for a "small" company last week that wanted me to run illegal - as well as do a lot of work for free. I was with them for a total of 3 days. 14 jobs in 3 years though? I don't think so. even if it were possible, most companies won't look at you if you've had more than 3 in 5.

LOL! So I had the guy pegged! Man if I would have put Schneider on that list I would have gotten it right!
Now speaking from experience. I ran with Watkins Shepard. I am not saying by any means they are a perfect company, BUT, I find it a tough pill to swallow for W/S to "force" you to run illegal. Now I will say this, and I think it goes with 99.9% of trucking companies. If you can make it "log book legal", then its legal.:biggrin_255:
W/S keeps track of ALL your log violations, large and small. You get a copy of them in the mail for you to review them.
They are fairly strict on violations. BUT, like I said previously make it "legal on the logs"! WINK, WINK!:biggrin_25525: I have never heard of any driver saying they were forced to run illegal.

Why would you go from, Schneider, W/S, Crete, Celadon, to SWIFT? Thats like trading in a nice big juicy steak for a plate of a fat mans poo-poo!:biggrin_25524:

I see the fat mans poo-poo but I don't see the steak. Not sure of W/S cause I've never heard much about them one way or the other but the others on the list are crap companies with a capital C.I'll have to agree,he fell to the bottom of the turd pile with Swift tho'.Maybe he was dyslexic and thought he was climbing the ladder and he had 41 jobs instead of 14.I'd say he was just popping off if I was guessing. Unless he took the CDL schools at all these companies so they could make some free labor and money off of him.A way you could tell if he was telling the truth was if he bummed a cig off of you cause if he worked for all those ratty outfits he'd be to broke to buy his own.lol
