Your o/o spec'd 389 comes complete with a DPF(diesel particulate filter) & the need to add Diesel exhaust fluid otherwise known as SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) You can thank the EPA & politicians NEED for bigger gov't.

Google this stuff & see the problems they CAN be. Your what ever per month payment means nothing to a dealership who has a 5 day wait just to look at what ever is derating your trucks power due to some sensor in the exhaust.
If you left 12 years ago, you left right as all this stuff began.

You also need to ask if your $149,900 include the 12% Federal Excise Tax. Generally do not pay sales tax on commercial equipment as long as you have a DOT/MC number. Check your local state laws to be sure though as it is your money.
But the 12% F.E.T. is mandatory on everything you buy down to tires...

Not trying to sound rude here, but, are you sure you are ready to buy a truck?

I'm seriously considering it. Please explain. I appreciate the advice

    1) What are planning on hauling , where are you planning on hauling it , getting your own authority or running as a leased on O/O ?

    2) Why are you set on 1 of the most expensive tractors on the road 2014 PETE 389 to start out with

    3) An inframe is the rebuilding of a truck engine without removing it from the truck , having driven in the past you must of heard this phrase

    4) Not being on the road for 12 years is going to hurt / hamper you when you start out with getting hired on with a company as well as insurance .

Glider has half the warranty of a new truck? Boy, that idea sure didn't come with the glider I bought. The frame, chassis, electrical, paint, etc of a new glider has the very same warranty as a new production goat piss truck. My factory rebuilt Detroit got the same basic warranty as any new Detroit coming off the line. My drive axles are brand new Meritor 14x with full lockers that have the same 750,000 mile warranty (using synthetic lube) as any other new drive axles. I will give you one on the transmission. The factory rebuilt Eaton in mine came with a 300,000 mile warranty instead of the base 500,000. Really not that big of a deal.

You must have gotten some bad information somewhere.

I wouldn't drop $149,000 on a new truck that could be in the shop more than it is on the road. Not joking by the way. I think I would buy a used $30-40k truck (if that) and put the rest in an account for repairs/rebuild. That's just me though and I'm not an O/O. :)

cowpie what kind of warranty do you get with the reman engine? The guy I know that went with a glider like yours always tap dances around that subject. I hear/think it around 3 years/300,000 miles. In Ont to get get full drivetrain warranty including emissions on a brand new truck for 500,000 miles it's close to 10,000 on top of the sticker price. Base warranty is around 250,000 miles.

Big government smothers out everything it gets involved with. So sad...

    1. I used to pull a tank, and have pulled a 48' and 53' dry van. What I'm seeing, however, in my area (south east. FL), are numerous flat bed loads vs the rest.

    2. I drove junk in the past, and am wanting something with some resale value.

    3. I never heard of it, even then.

    4. I'm afraid of that as well.
