well i just got back from lebanon tn. i had an interview with r e west and it seemed to go good. they said they would help me get my passport to go into canada. now they say that they are gonna do a background check. so i guess my question is how long does it take? they say they will call me monday. i am a security officer now and the background check for that consisted of finger printing, drug screening, T.B.I. investigation, and took about a week. are trucking company checks that way or are they different, what should i expect?
background check. how long does it take?

A day or two is normal but I've had them take longer. A week max. I think sometimes they have the info back, but it's sitting on someones desk in their "in" basket. Also, depends whether or not they do mail out forms that need be signed and returned.

lets hope they hurry. im ready to go. i know that a lot of trucking is waiting and i gotta get used to it but ive been wanting this for a long time so hopefully they wont jack me around too long

This may be a stupid question, but I was wondering if anyone knows how far back do most companies look when they do background checks?

Sorry...forgot to add.... does it vary from company to company?
