    Same as always, bottom line.

They cost more per truck, and they weigh more... less weight in the trailer = less $$$ per load.

The shop keeps telling me that if the load sharing isolates the batteries that the heater should keep working. When I lose battery power in the bunk(lights and outlets cut off) my bunk fan will keep blowing but the heater cuts off. It will blow cold air. For those with Prostar and the battery APUs, how does your heater function?

In mine the heat (and the cool, for that matter) worked until they hit their own cutoff voltages. My cooler would usually run for 2-3 more hours once the low voltage alarm went off, and I never did find out just how much longer the heater would run.

    That was a 2010, though.

Crete doesn't tell their drivers things like that. If I had a guess it would be, cost, weight savings and unreliable Freightliner battery apu's. Since it appears that the majority of new trucks will be mid-roof Cascadias, the previous opti-idle gave them better performance and reliability than the battery apus that Freightliner offers.

The last Prostar I had over there could go 15-18 hours on heat if I didn't over do the TV watchinging.
