    My guess would be somewhere along the lines somebody at a county clerk's office thought they knew about trucks and put in a 379 instead of 359. Not sure if this will cause you a headache down the road or not...

    Yours is shorter it is a 113 bbc. I'm not sure on the st version. I drove a 74 like your right down to the 1674. The 359's came in 113, 119, and 127 bbc. They also had two different firewalls one flat and one that was recessed in the cab.

    All the 359 I have seen on the serial plate on the dash will say S-27 which is an extended hood. S-19 which is short aluminum hood. Or S-13 which is the short fiberglass hood. The numbers reflect the distance in inches from the front of hood to back of the cab. The exhood is 127" the short aluminum hood is 119" and the fiberglass hood is 113". The fiberglass hoods didn't have the steps on the back of the fenders, and the rivets around the grill shell are in the grill itself. The 119 and 127 hoods the rivets are in the hood sheet metal near the grill seem. I can remember being told what the t stood for years ago but I will have to think about it a few minutes. That being said old age is taking its toll I may have the rivet locations backwards but they are definitely opposite from fiberglass to aluminum. I would have to look at mine to bet a weeks pay on which way they are. Looks like as many times as I have polished that grill over the years I would be certain.

    It came to me right as I was getting ready to pull out. The st stood for standard transmission. somewhere in the 70's they stopped using it. I know it seems odd as most all of those era trucks were manuals.

    shouldnt just tell them a little about it and they will change it. doesnt matter to them really
