I use my phone for google maps ALL THE TIME in my truck, in my car, while piloting a helicopter if I could. They can kiss my you know what with their ridiculous over-generalizing laws. Since when is driving such an insanely hard task you can't glance at a screen to see where the arrows lead? How the fck else are you going to know where you are going? Yet this freaking cops are blowing by you at 90 mph while on their laptops trying to figure out ways to get more revenue. This is exactly why I always do this at waist high, any higher and they might see the glare of the screen on my face. It helps being so high up in the air, people rarely even get a chance to see my face even.
And no, I do not condone texting and driving. That's why I bought a decent bluetooth device in the first place. But this is ridiculous.
How do I fight an Ohio DOT driver violation?

Sounds like OH. just put the text tic. on the truck inspc. form, fighting it is like saying the tail light was working after they said it was burnt out.

As far as affecting your driving career, Schneider will put on your DAC that you violated company policy. Large mega carriers will see this as a big no-no. You could possibly get on with a smaller carrier that does not subscribe to DAC, you would just have to try to explain why you were let go. Some companies could care less as they will expect you to answer their calls or texts immediately, no matter that you are driving.
Good luck with getting the ticket changed. -
I am going to jump in and give a couple of law firms that might be able to help you.
First, INTERSTATE TRUCKERS 1-800-333-3747
2ND--TRUCKERS JUSTICE CENTER---TAYLOR & ASSOCIATES 651-454-5800
Personally I feel that you might stand a good chance to have this thrown out of court, but it is going to cost you. -
This brings up a question my company uses people net and they message drivers. The system beeps till you press a button I told them that's the same as texting to me. Was wondering what you all think.
