I've about had it with this industry.Every company is the same in one way or another.I don't believe ads,websites or recruiters.What you posted sure does reel in the suckers for companies and schools wall of shame.

I guess in hind sight a good thing to do would be send in message to driver manager that truck is unsafe to drive because of steering. Then wait for response. Not on the phone on qualcomm. If no response call safety. You take the responsibilty when you continue to drive the vehicle. Being a squeaky wheel looking for grease would be a good thing in this situation. They may think you are a pain, but you wouldn't have a wrecked truck on your hands.
I guess the op learned a hard lesson. Maybe would be good to become a little more familiar with your truck and what it should look like and how it should perform.
The thing not mentioned is if the law was called since it was an accident on a public highway. Was there any citations involved? Mark on csa for tow away? Doesn't really matter just didn't see it mentioned. It might give light to how the company is handling this. -
Why would anybody think that a company would "care" about you? Nobody "cares" about you !!, ecxcept MAYBE your family & friends,but an employer ? they NEVER WILL THEY CARE YOU ABOUT YOU...@ pattyj I started at swift in 96 and only lasted 6 months because all the problems of today were going on back then,long waits,,no pay,no respect,unfullfilled promised home time,So I quit,now I will agree with you most OTR companies are horrible,So I refuse to work for them..But there are a few GREAT companies that pay very,very good and pay for EVERYTHING..When I quit swift I went to a union company and 16 years later I am still here and doing very well and I am home every weekend and two to three nights a week.And you can do it too...good luck...

I have never worked for Swift or Werner Both have had bad reps since I started and before. I was commenting on how there seems to be thiis miconception that only large trainiing outfits are "bottomfeeders". Negatory, plenty of Ma and Pops who should be called the same or worse. I know thiis becuase I share the road with them almost every day.
The industry as a whole is way worse then when I began. But so is society. And some of that is lack of respect drivers have for each other and sometimes for themselves.

It's all silly. Rumors are rumors. Free night @ the Mustang Ranch. Don't happen. I was manage the Drivers but I was to much a Trucker, not an asse kisser. Got forgotten. Punks with the tongue, are enjoyed.
We can't do anything if you can't drive a Manual. I cry. 12/ 34/20/20. The van drivers have sweat pants. We make fun of them.

The facts are most new drivers are workers from another industry that shut down. These people suddenly realized they had a life long dream to drive a truck and see the country after they lost their jobs, couldn't find another job, and ran out of unemployment benefits. These wannabes never drove anything more than a Honda Civic with an automatic transmission, and couldn't change a flat tire, much less change spark plugs.
The bottom feeder trucking companies lie and lure these people in, get some of them a CDL, half axxed train them, lease them a truck, or team them with another unexperienced driver, and expect them to survive.
There drivers have never worked on anything mechanical in their lives, don't know if something is wrong or not. When they complain of a truck being not right, they are treated like stupid children. Being new, and cannot afford to lose their jobs, they follow the people above them, which know even less about a truck. than they do.
In the end we have the untrainded being led by the unknowing, following a path that is most likely leading to failure.
Just last night a driver close to where I live lost his life. He had his CDL less than a month. He was driving late at night, while what I would guess was his trainer was in the bunk. This person passed a truck in a cruve on the interstate. He started weaving, hit the center guard rail, over corrected, weaved some more, then went over a bank, killing himself and trapping his co-driver. The co-driver in the bunk had to be cut out, but was OK. The driver this person was passing saw it all. He and the trooper both said it was inexperience.
These companies are setting people up to fail with their so called CDL schools and three month wonder trainers that use students as a team driver. The facts are some wannabe drivers are absloutely not able to be CDL truck drivers, just as some truck drivers are not meant to be accounts, jet pilots, space men, ect.Last edited: Jan 31, 2014
