Does anyone know what it would take electronic wise to swap a c13 for a 12.7 Detroit? Truck is a 06 379 shorthood. 2nd c13 just died in the truck so looking for other options.

Wow . who rebuilt the engine' had lots of luck with c13- pulling 125,000 lb gross gravel trailer. I'm betting going to be too expensive to change over computer crap

C-13's are usually pretty stout when maintained/rebuilt properly, I'm not looking for a fight here but maybe you should think about changing mechanics instead of motors. I can't think of the name of the company, but someone will chime in with it, they make a harness for any swap you can imagine.

On the engine side it wouldn't be that bad, but writing all that ecm Crap up to the dash would be very very time consuming. Considering what labor rates are, much cheaper to switch mechanics and keep the c13.

C-13 won't last longer compare to c-12. CAT should have kept producing c-12 (acert twin turbo) instead of c-13. When my uncle had the freight century early isx, he had a lot of problems, he replaced it with Detroit 12.7 non-egr.

The Pre-'08 Acert motors are a physically better motor, its the electronic settings imposed by the epa that is killing it, with Haney's help, it will run circles around a C-12. Even the '08's and up are superior motors but cost a lot more to "fix". I by no means am an expert, but I might be I'm looking at a nice '07 with a C-13. Just my $0.02...

The C-13 is not your problem. You are looking in the wrong place. There are a pile of them on the road and doing a lot of work. I don't know how you operate or what work you do, I just think you are looking in the wrong place for the problem. As they say, my 2 cents worth. I am not being harsh or judging you. Just my opinion.
