First of all cops are not judges. They do not know the law. Come over two lanes in one move is a lane violation and the woman should have been ticketed. You should have insisted on that. It does not have to be a cop that issues the ticket, you as a citizen could have. Even Gomer Pyle knew that.

Second, an accident in a personal vehicle is not the same as an accident in a commercial vehicle. It will not effect your chances of getting hired. You were not at fault and no safety committee stands in judgement.

I would put it on my applications with the notation that a woman committed a lane violation which caused the accident. I would not say she cut you off or that you rear ended her. That information is something that makes you look guilty therefore it gives the wrong information to the companies. Give your side only.

When you are driving a truck, you have much better vision and you will expect cars to do strange things out there. That is why we have much louder horns then the general public.

Welcome back to trucking. Now, my shower is not getting as much water pressure as I would like. I have replace the shower head and the on off valve. It had be leaking before but changing the valve took care of the leak. Any suggestions? :biggrin_25520:

The shower could many different things. You replaced the shower head and the on off valve ( I'm assuming that is the whole valve body) what does the pressure look like in the rest of your house? Sometimes you won't notice it as much in sinks because they don't use as much water. Do you have a water conditioner? They are a big source of low pressure. What is the pressure coming into the house? Around 50lbs is a good pressure. Test it with a guage that you can screw on an outside hose bib. What kind of piping do you have? If it's old galvanized pipe it gets corroded on the inside and will close the line up. Do you have at least 1/2" lines going to the shower? Is their a kink or obstruction in the line? If it's a single handle diverter (on off valve) they have a anti scald feature so if something is wrong with the hot water heater it will cause low pressure in the shower. Do you have a boiler that has a domestic hot water coil? They are known for getting clogged up. And all shower heads are not created equal. Some are crap even when they are new. And some have a flow restrictor in them . The government doesn't want you to use up too much water ya know. Lol some heads you can take them out on.

Now back to the accident.... I am considering signing tickets against her. What is everybody's opinion on that? My only concern is that I file a ticket on her which makes her file one on me and she works at the courthouse or something. She was trying to get off the exit that goes to the NJ State capitol. So she may work there and have some connections. Who knows. But I am considering it because in 100% positive it wasn't my fault.

I'd check my MVR 1st, if nothing has been added...let sleeping dogs lie. No point in getting something added.

I'm usually all for standing up for a principle, but in some cases, it just isn't worth making your own situation (possibly) worse to do so.

I'll echo what the others said. It was in your personal vehicle, so not as big of a deal as it would be if it were in a commercial vehicle. I'll add this...take a look at the trucking company websites, and look for their list of qualifications. Most of them will allow at least one violation and accident, some even two or three. If your record is clean, and your other situation(s) were expunged, as you say, then you should not have a problem getting on with someone.

    Good luck!

Thanks everybody for setting my mind at ease a bit. I decided not to sign tickets against the lady yet. If she gets stupid again and signs some against me then it's on!! But as of right now I shouldn't get any points on my license and insurance is taking care of the car. It will probably show up on my dmv report but it probably will no matter what happens.

I give you guys/girls credit for putting up with idiots like that every day. I always knew how bad people could be out there but after seeing how stupid this lady was, and knowing now u can be blamed for someone else's stupidity, it almost makes me reconsider becoming a trucker. But I really want to do it and have my whole life so I'm not going to let this stop me.

    Be safe out there.

I'm definitely looking into a dash cam. Even though it's my personal vehicle. If I had one I would not have a worry in the world because it would have shown that 100% I was not at fault. If any truckers or wannabe truckers don't have one yet I strongly recommend one. No matter how good of a driver you are you can't control the cars around you. And the other person will never take the blame and you could be in a situation like me. CYA

Ok, I give up! Today I got pulled over by the cops for speeding. I'll admit it, I was doing it. The cop was cool about it and saw I had a CDL so he gave me a obstructed license plate ticket. He was really cool because I was going 55 in a 40 mph. It's crazy! I never speed. I'm always overly cautious and people always yell at me for driving slow. I always think out what I'm doing and know one unguarded second can be your last when driving. I can't believe that I went so long with no problems and now right when I'm going to get a truck driving job I blow it all to hell.

Oh well, the good part is that I just found a plumbing job that I like. I'm making good money there and I just started talking to a new girl that seems pretty cool so far. I was not going to date anybody if I was going over the road. That way I could concentrate on my job and not worry about being home. So now I feel like someone is trying to tell me something. So maybe trucking will go on the back burner again for about 3 years. Then maybe I'll try again. By that time I should have my master plumbing license and maybe I won't want to be a trucker anymore. But I doubt it.

Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do with all the time I spent reading this forum. Maybe I'll start playing my guitar more again.)
