Nobody said it is impossible for EVERYONE to like or not like First Fleet---I was simply pointing out the obvious. If you are happy there and making decent coin, good for you. -
that's a nice selfie you got there lugnut lol
Luggnut Thanks this. -
I do agree about first fleet is not a good company as far as sc and nc. Not just myself but other drivers are complaining about the pay. 350 to 450 a week is no money when you drive all week. They lie about pay and then the mileage aint nothing. I work for them yes, but i have been here a month and a half, but i am looking for a better position

Chatted with a few FF drivers and most were happy, seems they had the lanes they wanted. But heard it was a seniority "bid" system for the best routes, new hires have to work their way up - no surprise.
Maybe things have changed, changing everywhere.
A lot of user name tango in this thread though.
Probably better to talk to FF drivers, and take all one post wonders with a grain of salt.Last edited: Apr 28, 2014

Zentrucking, you pretty much got it right as far as the bids and starting at the bottom. I work out of a terminal with approx 150 trucks and the bottom 25 or so on the seniority list is a constant turnover. I might also add that each terminal is managed independently and with the exception of a few guidelines mandated by corporate, the terminal manager has total control of how his terminal is ran.

My husband & I team drive for FF @ Cleveland TN Terminal. We are on Peyton's & run to Houston 2x a week.
My biggest complaint with FF are the new leaf spring trailers they are buying. Terrible. I just don't
understand the logic of leaf spring trailers pulled by teams. They say trailer selection is random at
Peyton's but when you see 6-7 "good ole' boy" solo drivers hook up to a nice air ride knowing they
get to stop & sleep for their 10 & yours is that nice new Wabash leaf spring that is going to beat you
to death really sucks. I LOVED this job before these trailers started coming in & now I am actually thinking about moving on because of them. I heard that they were buying them to spare mechanics from working on them but don't know for sure what the reason is. I do know that I wish whoever is ordering them would come on a TX run with me & just see how they feel. Pretty sad when the driver can't even lean back in the seat because the thing is kicking you in the back. We have moved the 5th wheel & tandems so many times
trying to figure these things out but...only thing we figured out is they suck no matter what & no matter if you are a team or solo. EVERYONE is complaining about these.
The good about FF is a couple of the dispatchers & safety guys & day mechanics are awesome. Lot of
guys named Wayne, Jeff, John & such are really good people. The pay is OK. I don't know how the other team
made only 70,000 unless that was each. Runs to VA beach pay a couple more CPM but I hate VA Beach. so stay w/TX. We run to Houston twice a week, are home 3 days in a row & one night in between our 2 runs. We don't run that hard & don't want to run more than 2 runs a week & still made just under $120,000 last year & a little over that the year before. Like Sidewinder we could make more & do another run or even a short solo or shuttle but....don't want to. I'll try not to be a one post wonder but .....CRS hits sometimes! -
Interesting reading... LOL We have been OTR nonstop for 2 years with only 3 loads taking us down I-17 so we could get by our home base in Central AZ. NOT! Twice the loads were high security, no deviating from route allowed and the third time we just couldn't spare the time and make delivery. We started hunting for a company that would #1 Get us Sundays off (AT HOME), #2 Get us through PHX to see family (PHX terminal best), and #3 Get us through SLC to visit the two youngest kids. Dedicated seems to be the only way to go and be able to come even close to this criteria we determined was necessary for US. We are grateful there have been posts regarding the Tolleson Terminal and most of them were positive. We have an interview/drug screen with them tomorrow if we get routed down I-10 coming back out of Cali. There may not be a "perfect" trucking company out there, but we continue our search to at least find the one that is going to give us some of our life back and make a decent living to boot. Driving team make it easier to get the miles we need. So... we're following through with the interview process and asking God to Bless it or Block it. LOL Thanks for 5 years worth of input on FF y'all!!
