Thanks for the feedback. I do appreciate it. Hopefully the cost of the air freight will be completely offset by a nice mpg gain. I have a little more tweaking to do on that thing and maybe it will be ready for the big time. Have a good weekend.

Tim , I followed you on Mav forum , if you don't mind me asking what about Mav IC? Seemed like I started reading a lot of low mile stories there , you think they have hired too many drivers , I was approved at one time but went elsewhere , not driving right now but looking.

I do not have personal knowledge of this, but was told by another poster who had several years with SNI, that they only consider OTR drivers for the Choice program and since he was a regional driver, he would have to go OTR for 6 months before they would consider him. That said, depending on where you live, you can be very, very successful running regional once you go choice. But, you gotta do OTR for at least 6 months first.....

That's a good idea, I'll check it out should I run into trouble tomorrow. What I'm hoping is that there is enough meat left in there for me to be able to thread it back and have it still seal up. The problem is that the threaded hole doesn't run all the way through as its a compression-style fitting, so drilling and tapping it to install a standard helicoil in such a relatively shallow hole may prove to be really difficult, as the tap will bottom out before it has time to really start threading. Last thing I want to have to worry about is finding a special tap just to get the job done, lol. We'll see how it turns out tomorrow after I go pick the new tube up from Cummins, I'll talk with the guys at the shop there and see if they have any recommendations as I'm sure they must run into this problem alot. However, their solution is probably going to be "well, you need to bring the truck down here and pay us $120 an hour to remove the turbocharger and exhaust manifold, and then replace the entire manifold" lol.

If you do have to helicoil you need to blind tap the hole. You could go searching for the correct blind tap, or you could simply grind the tapered end off the tap supplied with the helicoil kit. ;)

Usually when I have to tap a hole like that I'll grind a bit off the tap and work it as much as I can, then grind a bit more until I get the entire hole threaded. I've been following the thread so I'm absolutely certain you get the idea. :)

That's a great idea, just so i understand correctly start tapping with the "full" standard tap. then each time after i bottom out grind a little off the tap until I'm tapping the full size threads?
