I once asked a Congressman friend of mine to help me fight a battle. He listened to my story of the great injustice that had been done to me and then asked me if it had happened to anyone else. I told about three other cases that were exactly like mine. I knew he was going to go slay the dragon for me.

He looked at me and told me that he wasn't going to do a thing. That since I knew of others it had happened to but waited until it happened to me before I chose to fight, that I was a hypocrite. I should have come to him as soon as I saw someone else in trouble. I never forgot that.

Trans Am is in the business to make money. You are in the business to make money. Trans Am beat you. Had you been smarter they wouldn't have. You would have stayed away like everyone on this forum tells you too. I won't join your lawsuit. And I am in law school.

All people have to do to change this industry is smarten up. Don't work for low wages, don't pull cheap freight. Don't deal with broker who rip you off. Don't work for companies that are large enough but don't pay you benefits. Don't expect not to me screwed if you are not working for a union shop. And don't undercut each other.

There is a posting somewhere on here with a link to the Kentucky Coal Haulers Outlaw Truckers. One scene in it has a woman on the front porch telling a story that sums up the problem with the trucking industry. She says that if two truckers go into a room with 15 hookers, the truckers would end up screwing each other.

Where are you working now? Just out here picking the cotton like the rest of us.

None of us are perfect and we've all made mistakes. Just because it's not a mistake you'd make doesn't mean you haven't made different mistakes in life that where just as bad. Empathy is about understanding the plight of your fellow human and if possible giving him a hand up to ease his burden. This world could do with a lot more of that. This industry even more so.

I fully understand that and generally try to help others.

Search l/p on the world wide web, takes a second, and read the true stories. Pull out a calculator and crunch some numbers.

Most people won't do it after that. It's hard enough to make money doing it as a o/o starting out and not having to compete with company trucks.

And never do it for a large company.

Anyone that will spend 20 minutes on the internet will find out all they want about leasing with any company. To come on here and say 'WTF!" after the fact tells me they went in blind and shouldn't be surprised. Sorry it happened but what did you expect?

Well said. The OP supposedly has 15 yrs driving and doesn't know what kind of operation they're running over there at Trans-Am? I find that hard to believe. And even if he is new to the industry, it's very easy to research a companies reputation. Especially a large company like Trans-Am. I can tell by the post that he still doesn't understand the lease he signed because he thinks that the fuel surcharge is paid by the government (????). If someone goes into these scams blind (which is exactly what the bottom feeder companies want), they deserve what they get.

These lease scams would cease to exist if people stopped volunteering for them.

What a great post Wooly Rhino! I always wondered about the L/O thing as Iv always been an owner operator since an employee. Seems like going into a car dealership and buying a car, I pay the payments, insurance and maintain it but the dealership tells me when, where and how much I go for. If tensions get high because I'm not making enough they make it even worse for me and make me sit till I'm broke and then just take back the car that I worked hard to pay for!
Not a very sound business plan to me unless your the dealership! Lol

after hanging on as a stupid lease driver for transam
long enough to get a good job
    I still cant bash transam
they did what I needed them to do
it is expecting them to be anything but what they are is the problem

My first wife was the bar room bimbo town pump
my expectation of her being a good housewife and mother was my problem

Have you ever been to Vegas or Reno or went to an Indian casino? Well guess what those places are set up to work in their favor too. If everyone walked in and won all the time there would be no casino's. My plight is different than most, and won't hijack your thread. But just like gambling there are winners and losers. I would learn from this cut my losses and find a company or o/o that is willing to do the drivers right. There are some out there just sometimes need to beat the bushes and walk the unbeaten path just my thought
