Worked in the trucking industry in the 80's, left then worked in general contracting. now I am back to trucking- with Roehl hopefully- talked to a recruiter but he isn't very forth coming on the info I need to prepare after physical. My question first is how soon do I go to orientation after my physical? I requested flat bed and have 3 months over the road experience in flat beds, drop decks, rgns etc. will I have to do any training at training pay? how soon till I can go out and make money? and put on the miles. what can I expect in equipment and support? what is the pay scale and how is it earned? what should/can I bring to orientation in Gary? I am from Tucson Arizona so I don't want to be stuck with out my support stuff (tools, electronics, bedding, food, change of clothes, etc........Can any one help me out of the fog bank my recruiter has left me in?
New to Roehl (mabe?)

Roehl have a depot in Phoenix Thomas.....do you have to go to Gary?
-
yes they want me to go there for orientation
-
Gary is where Roehl has their flatbed securement training...
As a student, they sent me to get my physical and then called me after they received the info from compcare to set up when I wanted to go to school, I assume it's the same for yinz. They tell me securement training is 1.5 days. Not sure if it's the same for you.
After that, I get to drive my car home and meet up with a trainer from home, I believe you hit the road from there, but can request to be routed home to outfit the truck.
check out the Roehl sub-forum. There will be much more and reliable info there.
As far as starting pay, it's 35cpm for new drivers on national flatbed. Your results may vary as you have some experience.
As for equipment, Flatbedders get freightliners or prostars. -
