Hey I was thinking but you and roadkill should get together and make a video-movie
It would be hard to reproduce the smells
The Old days are dying and the New drivers only smell like they have.

nobody cares about their appearance any more. you look at photos of the trucking industry from the 60s - it's a well groomed, clean shaven white man wearing blue twill pants, a blue shirt with a collar, and a nice hat to top it all off. now look at COPS on Fox - even the "detectives" are wearing camo pants, a T shirt, long hippy hair and a beard that hasn't been trimmed in a month. not very professional looking. do they not have a dress code any more? and they want our respect just because they have a bagde on a chain, and a gun to harass people who want to smoke a joint while billionaires who steal money from poor people walk free?

Thanks for the post. I married one of the cowboy types(yeah he does the boot change thing). Guys back in the day used to kid with us gals, but with respect. Now some of the comments out of the mouths of these guys would make a sailor blush. If one more steering wheel holder calls me "mommie" I swear I'll taze him. -
I haven't been driving any where close to as long as you have, and I feel pretty much the same way as you do. From clothes, to lack of hygiene, to the fear of a noob hitting my truck while I'm inside. You hit the nail on the head brother. -
One thing I just thought of that I cannot stand is the morons that come to America from other countries that refuse to assimilate. Then they feel compelled to stand at the phone banks, at the fuel counter, in the drivers lounge, in the bathrooms or where ever else they find convenient and yell at the top of their lungs in a foreign language. They may be talking to their team driver or some on the cell phone. Man that just chaps my hide and every one of the rude jerks I've come across seem impervious to the offended glares of folks around them.
rixcamp Thanks this. -

The good ol' days are long gone.
Some need more than a map to the shower and laundry room. Some need to be told to wash hands after each toilet visit.
When I was with my trainer back in the day, he and I'd go to the buffets at the TAs and Petros. Then I saw a driver go to the toilet, leave without a thought to washing afterwards, and head straight for the buffet line. Never went to another truckstop buffet in the remaining years I drove. -
Same reason why I don't go to a buffet.

LOL Just remembered, I was looking at my school yearbooks the other day. Wow!!! Even 25 years ago we dressed so much more neatly than the kids do today. We were neat and tidy. We tucked in our shirts. We wore our clothes with pride. We combed our hair. Today, most kids look like slobs who haven't washed, bathed, or seen a comb let alone clean clothes in a month. I don't get it...
