I just want to clarify a couple things. I think Walmart is a top-notch company I think they have a safety program second to none. Their drivers are some of the best in the industry very professional! I'm proud and honored that I've made it this far in the selection process. I just don't know if it's the right move for me at this time. I can also tell you that at a union company you are just a number everybody has the us against them mentality on both sides of the dispatch window. Has most of you no there is not a perfect job out there if there is please tell me worried that. There are pros and cons at every job

We certainly do not get any awards here for poor safety ratings like at Estes Express. But do not feel bad. At least your company's CSA Vehicle Maintenance score of 55.7 is slightly better than Swift's 56.8. HOS compliance is a whole different story though. I bet you are proud of the HOS compliance score of 38.8 Estes currently holds. Too bad it is not as good as Swift's 21.8. Fear not, as the EOBR mandate will go a long way towards fixing this, and it will not be for your better. You should be thinking about who will be replacing your job in the coming years, and it will be a lot more closer to Swift than what you currently temporarily enjoy. When Estes is a distant memory, the top level of Estes will have their gold, and you will get the shaft.

Priciate the info. Did not know any of that. I'll cross that bridge when it gets here. I'm glad I can rely on Wally world threads to update our safety scores. Fortunately Estes isn't run by wall street and is a debt free multi billion dollar outfit that will probably hang on for a while when things get tough. I'm also glad I'm a debt free multi thousand dollar employee that don't need to live in a truck to make ends meet.

ive already made my mind up to go all in if I make it through the process. only real way my set up stays good at my current employer is to stay at the terminal I am at. I am wanting to relocate, we are non union and all of our runs are set runs and if I transfer ill get whatever run is open. here if you are on a run and do a good job and have no complaints then you keep your run as long as you want it. we don't do bids like the union carriers and walmart. plus here im domiciled 200 miles away from the terminal any other terminal I could transfer to I would work directly out of. it would be like a completely different job. so if im going to have to make a change im going for walmart. im divorced now, my daughter is going to be going off to college so its just me so good time to try something new.

Wow, this thread went dead. I'm with Poly Trucking and we make .48 cpm hub, $30 a stop, benefits, pull our own stuff out and bring broker loads back, get to pick outbound loads and we average 1000 mile trips and as many miles as you can take. This week made $2000 plus. Should I consider getting into Walmart if they are hiring in Dallas? I know you guys are secretive about the pay. But any insight on that would be appreciated.

How long have you been with Poly Trucking? What's your home time like? How much do you make a year on average?

Only been with them 5 months but we all get payed the same and same loads to choose from. If your from dallas, our main terminal is in grand prairie and i live in irving, you could probably get home every other day if you wanted to. But i stay out like 5 or 6 days b4 my hours run out and still bring in MINIMUM 3000 miles. If you dont live there then two weeks i guess. Just need to pick a load headed your way and the mom and pops you get to schedule your own appointment. Home time as much as you want as long as you average 8000 miles a week. The other guys I've spoken to make 70k plus. Thats why i'm interested in walmart. I'd have to average 4000 miles a week every week to make 80k. Poly is very picky on who they hire but not like walmart.

Anyone know of places other then ltl or flatbed that pays as good. I hate local driving and I have never done flatbed. Love Poly but I want to keep my career going up. Probably take me years to get hired onto walmart near dallas. But I'm in no hurry.
