Parking your property on someone else's property is a privilege; not a right. No one is entitled to put their property on someone else's property or vice versa.

Skateboardman, sweety i am a team driver for one so i do not park ever until i am home. I don't think you got the point,so let me rephrase it. mcdonalds meal truckstop=$10-12. mcdonalds at home= $8-10 same meal?!?! I don't think it is right they jack us like that is all. If anyone is going to sit here and tell me they make no profit off the drivers and/or company in maaaaany other areas i can assure you that they do not pay attention too prices. Point is that WE as drivers can sit there blindly and take it because those would mostly be the A. lazy drivers B. Uneducated drivers or C. the ones who spend all there money on porn, lot lizzards, etc. Before you rant NO i am not judging , you can spend your money on what you like. The rest of the smart drivers realise A. there is a walmart B. I found a free parking spot before they charged C. sex is free . It's a choice and debate people, no need to get all upset about it. I have the opinion of all drivers sticking together to make things work for us other drivers may not.

I'm not arguing that, Ed. If you read my post in context to what I was responding to, you'd know that. The comment was about someone complaining about truckers who park for the entire weekend. Please don't take things out of context, okay? We pay for parking when asked to...out of our own pocket. The company does not reimburse, but, had you read my other comments on the subject, you'd understand that I'm the one who pushes him to call for reserve parking when everything looks like it's going to be hard to find a spot to settle when his clock runs out. Again, please don't just assume to know what I'm talking about if you didn't follow back in the thread. I'm not trying to be a girl dog here, really.

So what if prices at truck stops are high. You can buy somewhere else. I pay for parking that isn't at a truck stop. And it's way cheaper than if I bought the land.
The parking has to be paid for one way or another. This conversation is like people complaining about paying for the amount of baggage they take on a flight. The additional weight costs fuel and has to be paid for. But when they make those responsible for the extra weight pay for it rather than have everyone else subsidize it they act like they're being wronged.
Having a parking spot at random anywhere in the country for a couple dollars a day is a great rental price on real estate. Mobile real estate...it's like magic.
Nothing in business is free because everything in business has a cost associated with it. It's a fact.
Hiding the costs of things for people to feel like they're getting things for free is simply a deception.
Two free hours detention time... isn't really free.
Free government benefits... isn't really free.
Free truck parking... isn't really free. It cost money to buy the land. There're property taxes that have to be paid on the land. If you want it nice it takes money to maintain the land.
If you get service at the shop at the truck stop. Great. Now that covered the cost of the maintenance service. If you want to park there that is another cost. The truck stop may or may not subsidize the parking cost with profit from another part of their business. It's better if everyone pay for what they use rather than me paying to subsidize your use (or vise versa). So if you get maintenance..you pay for it. If you don't get maintenance..you don't pay for it. The same with parking and food and whatever else.

I guess it isn't the parking that bothers you at all, its the fact that ya get charged more at the truckstops.

they also do that at all the plazas along turnpikes.

one reason for that is the abosolute heck they catch trying to get the permits to build a truckstop, local communities get all up in arms when a truckstop is going to be put in. they have to jump thru all sorts of hoops, there is a reason most truckstops are located away from major areas or major areas have a lack of them. and many times you will see a new one rebuilt on the same spot because its grandfathered in.

the higher prices is nothing new , that's has pretty much always been the case . we are a captive audience. I also know where wal-marts are, I have an apu with a fridge microwave, crockpot, and burton oven and a grill in the trailer toolbox.

the prices truckstops are no different than the pricing at a local convience store, its much higher than the local grocery store.

this is nothing new at all, and honestly if ya didn't have the few that throw trash all over the parking lots, terrorize the restrooms, and just generally act like the world owes em something, their costs would be lower and the prices would be lower.

I am in this to make a profit and so are they.

I don't envy you being a team driver, it just isn't my style. I will keep doing my 2k miles a week .

since ya never stop , I guess you don't ever have to park on that pile of dog poop

and honey bun, sex aint anywhere near free at all. I been married for 38 years, I have paid out the yingyang for piece I have got.

the uneducated ones are the ones paying for ts junk
while I eat from the truck every day
more then makes up for paying for reserved parking when I need it
I also hold off buying supplies I need at a ts until I get to a pay TS
    like TA in Ontario CA
I at least get more logbooks etc for the $20 parking fee

Wtf A. Sex isn't free your paying for it for life. Or B you pay for one night and move on. I prefer option b. No commitment and something different every time.

I did read your post in context, I didn't make assumptions, and I did read previous posts. The post you made is on page 6 post #54. Even though I read previous posts, they're irrelevant to my comment regarding that post.
You wrote that Forrest was denied, or could be denied, a right...to park on someone else's property. That's a privilege; not a right.
If it's a right you don't need permission. You need permission for privileges.
