Out of curiosity how would they know you are not in compliance?

DOT pulls you over asks "Is this your current address?"

    You say "Uhhh yes."

Then 30 days later you get pulled over by the same cop... Or even before that the fact that you are driving a TX tagged truck in the middle of nowhere TX in the oilfield would probably be enough for a cop with a hardon.

That's just one way. I just got my CDL so I can't really say. I'm sure others have their own opinions or experience.

I have received tickets for failure to update address on my regular license though.

Not all companies require you to change your license. I've been down here for a few years and have even been pulled over by the DOT, they never questioned it. But I run interstate so its no different than a OTR job. If you run intrastate it might be a different story.

this is my issue, I won't change my license because my home isn't in texas but every company I talked to said I will need a texas address and change my license to reflect it. One reason I would consider doing this as a O/O is that would no longer apply because I would contract for the work but work for my michigan company with a tdy in texas, not worrying about changing my license.

If you have a clear background and can pass a drug test you will get a job. Only the laziest Ef-Ups won't.

My yard is gearing up and hiring heavy right now. They can't get people in there and trained fast enough. One of the guys they were going to hire didn't pass his piss test the other day.

I might be in the wrong business- I could make a killing just selling what I flush down the toilet a dozen times a day.

Is this your current address? SAY YES. Real easy and the truth. I have a house in Florida, been in Texas 6 month s, oklahoma 2 years and now North Dakota . No company has required me to change my address.

Find a job on Craigslist before you go. If the job isn't what you wanted find another while you are in Texas. I know most say Craigslist??? Why??? Under transport under the jobs category is where to look. I found all my jobs that way except one . This job in North Dakota I found on Craigslist and it's really working out

just my 2cts of opinion, you'd be better of using . Indeed.com vs craigslist. go with "Truck Driver" Big lake / San Angelo / Big Spring and see for yourself.
Of course you'll have some non related oilfield position in the mix but that should give you an idea.

Lots of work in Big Lake because nobody or so wants to drive the commute from the closest civilized place. Driving 70mi one way to go work and then back after shift gets old for lots of people.
Big Lake is a city of 3000 but it does look more like a giant oilfield truck stop than anything.

Frenchman, I would say indeed has the bigger companies and for someone new I'd agree a bigger company is the way to go if they hire no experience.

craigslist is mostly smaller companies that lack benefits and have virtually no training program. I like smaller companies because you have the potential to make more.

Small companies most likely will hire no experience but there are pitfalls.

The pay at halliburton sucks like 15 an hour staring out if you have your cdl. On the bright side they pay you to sleep after a job so getting 120 to 140 hours a week isn't hard.

    Boy Howdey Thanks this.
