Its about time that the "John Q Public" will get a taste of their own medicine. Too bad that they don't have to sleep in their cars overnight, when its freezing or above 90 degrees outside.

This is one of the reason's why trucker's should strike, just what are we going to do when the weather get's hot or to cold, Die in our sleep.

It is not just the tree huggers doing this. The states that are doing this are not just Democrats. California, the governor is republican.
You will need to actually delve into the reasons by each state. -
Exemptions to the idling restriction would include situations when vehicles are stuck in traffic or when idling is necessary to operate defrosters, heaters or air conditioners to ensure the safety or health of drivers or passengers.

Pardon my saying so but 20 degrees? That's nuts! let's be realistic here. Connecticut gets ocean air and some nasty wind chills as well. Just because the temperature may be 20 doesnt mean the truck would stay 20 with the wind chills.
I forget who said it but it was said on this forum, "when they turn the heat off in their offices and the air conditioning off, I will too!" That's so true on so many levels.
Just watch though. If they get this to pass, then they will be griping because no trucker will run into the area in the summer or winter. And by gosh, heaven forbid if one should die of heat stroke or hypothermia, then it would be blamed on other things rather than their stupid law. -
Let's face facts. 95% of the public couldn't give less of a hoot about truckers. Why? Because truckers are generally regarded as among the lowest dregs of society. You can be offended at this if you choose, but it doesn't change the fact- most people think of truck drivers as lowlifes. I've been in the business long enough to realize that most folks simply don't care about our comfort or well being. Sad but true, I know...
