Traffic, people don't understand/care what it takes and the space needed to operate a truck. Cabs don't have a care in the world and often times while you are back up or making a turn will whip around you on your blindside or inside. People will step out in front of you with no warning. I have noticed though that the bus drivers are usually very helpful, both with directions and with stopping traffic if you need it.

Kinda what I thought and kinda being technical--since the Vince is still official on the NJ Tpke--95 doesnt exist until the tpe merge (North of the vince)where 80 officially ends and the #changes to 95--and also on a tech note since everyone seems to think the tpke IS 95--on the south end 95 goes thru Philly and ends just west of trenton when it turns into 295 south....
wasnt being a pita--actually wondered IF you went somewhere else--since it is awful pricey to leave Bklyn and go back to jersey and then back in..either way thanks for clearin it up:yes2557:

I agree. I delivered Honda motorcycles in the city for 3 years. It was always fun and your right the people are nice. The food is the best from the little corner mom & pop delis.

This is an anecdote about the time I nearly died of a heart attack on the cross Bronx expressway :biggrin_25519:

First time I ever when to NYC I had a three dropper on the back of my trailer and less than two months of solo experience under my belt.

I hauled the load up from Orlando, 'bout 38,000 lb's of fresh citrus, had a stock in Brooklyn, one in the Queens and one in the Bronx, in that order.

I shut down in Burlington NJ at the FFE yard and spent the better part of 3 hours routing and doing home work. Check, re-check, check the re-check and checked all my checking. Everything looked good. Everything went well, I was very surprised. Whole ordeal took about 5 hours total.

Boss calls me: "Hey `ol boy, I need a huge favor from you. Got a guy coming from East Long Island with a break down, he's over in Medford, mind grabbing his trailer and running it?"
Good miles on the load, pulling duraflame logs, about 6,000 lb's from a Sams club (partial rejected load.) This is where everything went south for me.
Sat on the last receivers property being anal retentive with my maps, check the NYC DOT website about my route and feel good about it. Slide the tandems all the way up, and take off.

First, I got a bit lost when I turned north and couldn't find a safe entrance to the expressway. Pulled over as far as I could on the shoulder and broke out my detailed map of the area. Found a safe turn around and made it back down to the entrance ramp to head east on Bruckner. Got onto 495 safely.

Drive about a mile and have to merge left to avoid an accident, couldn't get back over into the right- traffic is ravenous, no one will let me in. Keep going and it was around this time my heart became very acquainted with my ####- I saw a yellow 13'0'' sign.

I pulse break, right on the verge of panic breaking to slow down so I don't clip the side of this bridge. I'll be god-###### if someone is snapping pictures of my ### for their twitter account!

I hear my CB crackling in the background...finnaly a daycab lets me in, takes me a minuet to settle down and I notice the daycab beside me with his mic up. "What in the #### was that, son!?" I tell him the events that led up to that. He explains to me what the yellow signs mean. Face was beat red the whole way to Medford. Ignored the yellow sign on my way back out, haha!

On my way out, I saw another driver fall asleep behind the wheel in a car carrier and slam into a guard rail. I don't like NYC, never will.
