I heard that there are a lot of homeless guys in San Angelo, TX as they don't know what to do with all the guys flowing into the area looking for work.

If you are homeless in the oilfield you are not looking. The best place to look if you have no experience is Craigslist , look under jobs and select transport. Great place for newbies

That would not surprise me. I suspect that industry segment is a lot like the truckload driver industry. Everybody wants good drivers, so this attracts twice as many applicants as they really need, with few lasting more then a few months, and the cycle continues. At this point, there are probably a lot of experienced guys now looking for greener grass so the new guys have to compete with the experienced guys .... tough task

Kind of like Hollywood ... thousands flock there with dreams of success and money, and only 1 or 2 will get their foot in the door, and the rest are desperate for anything that resembles the job and life they left behind and may well now be gone in this permanently depressed economy.

The boom areA around Midland and Odessa I would say in the 20's and in the panhandlers it seems wages are dropping to around 18. Following craigslist in the transport section under jobs is a good way to follow wages.

What would the earnings be after taxes? Do truckers earn as much as the other workers?
