I always give a heads up on the radio to a fellow trucker(flat or not) if I see an issue as I would hope if I had something back there happening that I did not know about that someone would return the favour to me!
hey buddy.. (us flatbedders appreciate the heads up)

I just took a load to NC/SC with a strap intentionally loose on a pallet (had 2 on it. Only required 1) and nobody said nothing on the radio 650 miles to the first stop. And at a stop light.1/2 mile from the truck stop a 4 wheeler flagged me down and told me. Not 1 big truck. And I passed alot of them

Good call SHC. I missed that. He's one who winds a full strap instead of folding the excess. Sure recipe for straps loosening.
Weird pic though, you'd think the mud flaps would angle back some from the wind. Looks like it's sitting still. -
SHC Thanks this.

Rounded or smooth steel is one thing, but sharp beams and stuff with an edge needs protectors. I use them on anything I haul, even lumber. I'm too paranoid that a strap will cut loose, or worse yet, just get a 2" cut and DOT bear will spot it before I do.
As as for rolling up the straps, I do that as well. I've not had any problems with them coming loose on me at all. Then again I do tighten stuff down to the point it will bend steel lol -
