I always top off because DEF pumps are frozen at some places. Plus, there are places without DEF at the pump & I have to get approval from the company to buy the one in the box. That can be a major pain.

If you top it off each time then it only takes less than a minute each time.

When I did reefer I was lucky I didn't have a DEF truck. Fuel, DEF, reefer...fun fun fun.

He does, but you have to watch the expiration date.

DEF is almost 70% water. It's gonna freeze. You have hot water lines running to the unit.Your truck will still run, maybe degraded power for awhile. But once the tank comes up to temp you will go back to normal operation.Idiot lights should go off after 3 cycles of the ignition key.Start,stop.etc.

Munoz is the same way. Got to get approval to buy it in the box. I only did that once but they let me slide as it was the first time I drove a truck that used def and it was a loaner. My truck at the time was a pre DEF ISX equipped Volvo 780

Thank you. We've got a box under the bunk now and we'll remember to top it off from now on.

    BTW,
We have Reefer, DEF & fuel, and then if I have to use the little girls room, and then of course we all know how long it can take at the fuel desk...this is why I don't understand the guys that throw a fit if they can't be in & out of the fuel island in less than 10 minutes.

I know a driver who constantly accused others of taking a shower parked in the fuel isle.
One week I timed him every stop...he got the message to quit fussin'.:yes2557:

I don't know of anybody who "fusses" about lots of time spent at the fuel island SO LONG AS they are actively pumping and monitoring the goings on. We are fully aware some pumps are very slow but that is not to be directed toward the driver.

And yes, guys we know some of you put the nozzles in the tanks and walk away, not even bothering to turn them on (as a diversion). That's not cool either and in fact is just stupid.
