Alot of information on this post with the majority of it incorrect.
First, are you building a Paccar product or a Freightliner?
Second, if your buying a Paccar, we are the 3rd party source of supply (we build the paccar glider harnesses). We provide an off the shelf plug and play harness for any of the Peterbilt or Kenworth Glider Kits currently being offered for the installation of Cat, Cummins or Detroit engines. With a Cat we can go back as far as a '94 EPA, this means your 40 pin CAT ecm's. On a Detroit you can go back as far as a DDEC III and finally on a Cummins you can go back to a N-14 Celect + (CELECT will NOT work). The harness we supply plugs into the factory canon plug in the firewall and down at the side of the engine ECM with all of your various sensor feeds throughout the engine compartment and back of trans. From an installation standpoint, simply plug it in. There are particular ways to bring the chassis in from the factory that will assist in the build process but that's for another post.
If your purchasing a Freightliner (with the exception of the Cascadia) you can order the correct engine control harness directly from your dealer at the time of glider chassis purchase.
Hope this helps and if you have questions or need more information feel free to contact us. -

I'm kinda clueless ...... But that ECM should fit a few different engine prefixes .... And then they could flash the 6nz software in.......
I do know they won't sell you a 7cz for any reason unless you have a core to turn in..... And before he even finished the sentence he said he knew where he could get his hands on 2 "cores". -

If this is going in an aero truck that is driven right and hooked to an aero trailer with MB wheel bearings, skirts and tail including SS fuel saver tires, it could be a 9.5 to 10 mpg truck. A real money maker with a fast ROI and a pleasure to drive with a lot of available power if needed.
Good luck and God Bless.Jokingypsy and SheepDog Thank this. -
To Dice,
That sounds like an awesome truck, but also awesomely expensive. What do you think it would cost to build that engine, then of course the entire glider and truck and trailer combined? It does sound like an awesome ride though.

It takes money to make money and what might seem like a big expense up front might be dwarfed by the amount of $4+/gal diesel fuel. Just figure the difference in fuel mileage over 10 years compared to the extra expense to add those parts and it might shock you at the difference.
Here is a little information to compare and let`s hope fuel stays around $4/gal or less, but it will more likely go up over the next 10 years that make the spread even larger.
120,000 miles a year @ $4/gal for 10 years fuel cost:
5 mpg = $ 960,000
6 mpg = $ 800,000
7 mpg = $ 685,714
8 mpg = $ 600,000
9 mpg = $ 533,333
10 mpg = $ 480,000
I took my truck from low 6s to low 9s with most of those mods including very conservative driving habits that by this chart the 9 mpg truck will use $266,667 less fuel over 10 years than the 6 mpg truck would. That will buy at least two entire first class gliders all tricked out like I speced to RKH or make it possible to take more time off or add to a very good retirement program for the future.
Fuel is by far the largest expense in trucking and the more you cut that expense the more you can keep in your pocket instead of giving it to the truck stops.

I saw the article about the bullet truck, heavily modified t2000 and special trailer. They got over 13mpg at 65,000 pounds, better then Paccar's high tech super truck. Thanks for the info, pretty enlightening

It's funny Dice I was really looking at PP for remanning the motor. Also, I have been researching Mircoblue coatings and from what I see, read, and hear I interested in it. If it's a route that I follow them I will go all the way with it. I'm looking at the W900l with the 86"studio sleeper. What bothers me will be the empty weight. I'm afraid with the Cat she will be heavy. I plane on using a Reefer and van at different times throughout the year. I want to thank you for all your thoughts and advice. Thanks.
